David Southey’s well established Southford Stud, a stalwart supporter of BSA sales for many years, will once again offer a high quality draft at the 2018 Cape Yearling Sale later this month.

Southford Stud have just four yearlings on sale, but their quartet is packed full of quality.

First of the draft is a colt (Lot 17) by July Cup runner up and consistent winner producing sire Main Aim.  This unnamed bay is a half-brother to the very smart filly Felicity Flyer, a stakes placed winner of three, who has placed in all of the G3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery, Perfect Promise Sprint, Lady’s Pendant, Irridescence Stakes and Laisserfaire Stakes.

Inn A Minute (Lot 32) is the next offering from Southford at the Cape Sale. This filly, who shares her sire Greys Inn with dual Horse of The Year Legal Eagle,  is a half-sister to 3 winners, including Ballymaine who recently won his second race.
From the same female line as current South African and former BSA graduate Surcharge, this filly is also related to the European champions and influential sires Diesis and Kris, as well as top class Cape sire Count Dubois.

The latter is the sire of Gauteng Guineas hero and millionaire Biarritz, who, from a very limited number of runners, has produced stakes winning filly Anglet and the very promising Walter Smoothie, among others. Biarritz is also the sire of Great Guy (Lot 63) –a half-brother to five winners, and out of a winning Northern Guest half-sister to G3 winner Hale Sapieha.

Last, but by no means last, in the Southford draft is John Hancock (Lot 86), a colt by the late, very successful Danehill sire Toreador. This colt is out of a winning Fort Wood daughter of the speedy stakes performer Hancock News, and his third dam is top class racemare and producer Hancock Park.
