GRADE ONE SIRES DOMINATE CONNEMARA DRAFT
16 March 2018

Paul and Lindi Garlicki’s Connemara Stud will be offering seven high class yearlings at the 2018 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale next month.
Remarkably, all seven of the Connemara yearlings are sired by G1 winning stallions!

Flower Alley, the only sire of a Kentucky Derby winner ever to stand at stud in Africa, has two colts in the draft. First is Flowerscape (Lot 308), who is closely inbred to champion and influential sire Forty Niner. Flowerscape is from the same family as champions Horse Chestnut and Monyela.

Flower Alley is also sire of a colt (Lot 308) whose five time winning Captain Al sired dam is a ½ sister to stakes placed 2yo Kenny Trix, from the great Party Time family.

Equus Champion Soft Falling Rain, who stands alongside Flower Alley at Wilgerbosdrift, has a colt by the name of Monsoon (Lot 488) in the draft. The well named Monsoon, a half-brother to 2 winners, is out of a full-sister to an Argentinian G1 winner from an outstanding South American family.

Triple G1 winner Jackson has a really attractive son in the form of General Jackson (Lot 19). The latter is out of a five time stakes winning sister to G1 winning champion, and July runner up,  Young Rake, from the same family as G1 winners Along Came Polly, Master Plan and  Rock Opera (dam of top Dubai campaigner Heavy Metal).

Another triple G1 winner represented in the Connemara is dual Italian champion sire Oratorio. The latter has a filly, Mary O (Lot 199), whose stakes placed, four time winning dam is out of Zeditave’s G2 winning daughter Love Of Mary.

Cartier Champion (and five time G1 winner) Duke Of Marmalade is a proven sire of G1 winners the world over. The champion son of Danehill is responsible for a bay colt (Lot 371) whose winning dam is a ½ sister to 3 stakes horses, headed by Fillies Guineas second Winter Ade.

Yet another champion represented in the Connemara draft is Equus Champion, and G1 Jebel Hatta hero, Vercingetorix. A son of champion sire Silvano, Vercingetorix is sire of a bay colt (Lot 282) whose dam is the speedy stakes placed racemare Speed Merchant.  Remarkably, this colt’s first three dams are all black type performers!
