The Piketberg farm Moutonshoek has enjoyed a sensational season in 2017-2018, with the farm’s graduates including some of South Africa’s most talented and talked about three-year-olds.

Among the high-class racehorses representing Moutonshoek this season are the likes of recent G3 Byerley Turk winner Undercover Agent, BSA August Million winner Broadway Trip, Sea Cottage Stakes hero Majestic Mambo, and the very smart Noble Secret.

Moutonshoek’s 29 strong draft for the 2018 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, includes lots by such stand out sires as Captain Al, Dynasty, Gimmethegreenlight, Silvano, and Trippi, as well as such promising sires as Flower Alley, Soft Falling Rain, Twice Over and Visionaire.
Remarkably, this draft includes yearlings out of 10 individual black type winners.

The farm will be offering a Flower Alley half-sister to the R3 million plus earner Undercover Agent in the form of Secret Alley. This chestnut filly, whose first three dams are all black type performers, is out of Winter Oaks winner Secret Risk.

Broadway Trip is another top class performer with a Flower Alley half-sister on the sale. Already named On Broadway (Lot 84), this bay is out of Rock Of Gibraltar’s five time stakes winning daughter Alinga.

Other interesting lots in this powerful draft include a  Silvano filly (Lot 34) whose dam is a half-sister to Argentine G1 winner King Of Sale, a Captain Al ¾ sister to dual Algoa Cup winner Disco Al (Lot 40), a Dynasty filly whose G3 placed dam is a ¾ sister to multiple champion Princess Victoria (Lot 96), a colt by the farm’s successful resident sire Mambo In Seattle out of ten time stakes winner Follow The Piper (Lot 154), and a Silvano half-sister to G3 Cape Classic winner Eighth Wonder (Lot 161).

Red hot sire Visionaire, who is responsible for current sensation Takingthepeace, has a filly (Lot 350) whose G3 winning dam is a ¾ sister to dual G1 winner, and R5 million plus earner, Captain America, while another rising sire star, Twice Over, is responsible for a filly (Lot 251) whose dam is a stakes placed daughter of leading stallion Dynasty.

Outstanding young sire, and L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner, Gimmethegreenlight has two in the draft, including a colt (Lot 435) from the same family as champions Spook Express, and Busted, as well as former top SA sire Elliodor.

Champion sire Trippi, responsible for recent G1 SA Classic hero Lobo’s Legend, has one in the draft –a colt from the same family as top sires Encosta De Lago, Flying Spur and Night Shift (Lot 195), while hugely promising young stallion Master Of My Fate is represented by a filly (Lot 388) whose dam won six, including the Winter Oaks.

Young sires Flower Alley and Soft Falling Rain are both represented in the draft, with the former’s lots including siblings to Undercover Agent and Broadway Trip, as well as half-sister to Merchants winner Triptique (Lot 222) and a colt out of Fort Wood sired stakes winner Cinnamon Sugar (Lot 380).

Former Equus Champion Soft Falling Rain has a beautifully bred filly out of Listed Perfect Promise Sprint winner Kitti Cat (Lot 452). This filly is from the same family as champion and champion sire Giant’s Causeway (damsire of Soft Falling Rain himself) as well as outstanding broodmare Hasili.

Resident sires Mambo In Seattle and Marchfield both have appealing lots in the Moutonshoek draft. Mambo In Seattle, whose offspring include the likes of dual G1 winner Same Jurisdiction and Golden Slipper winner Desert Rhythm, has a full-brother to G3 winner Fortune Fella (Lot 109)on offer, while dual Canadian champion Marchfield’s trio includes a filly out of Summer Juvenile Stakes winner Only Emily (Lot 508), and a half-brother to G3 winning 2yo Wheredowego (Lot 515).
