Both Oldlands Stud and Pecan Hill Stud are represented by some high class yearlings at next week’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

Oldlands, who have bred such standout performers as English Garden, Go Indigo, and Dubai stars Lucky Find and Sanshaawes, are represented by a single yearling at this year’s National Sale.

This is Arminius (Lot 7), a colt from the first crop of Silvano sired champion Vercingetorix. He is a half-brother to seven winners, most notably G2 winning millionaire Kangaroo Jack, and he is out of Model Man’s G1 Garden Province Stakes second Rainbow Flag.

Pecan Hill Stud will be offering two lovely fillies, sired by two of South Africa’s most popular stallions.

Leading First and Second Crop Sire What A Winter is responsible for a filly (Lot 376), whose winning National Assembly sired dam is a half-sister to the stakes placed dam of this season’s talented 3yo Sniper Shot. The latter ran a cracking second in the recent G3 Byerley Turk, and has been entered for the G2 Daisy Guineas.

The What A Winter filly’s second dam, Silky Dancer, won the G3 Tibouchina Stakes and ran second in the Cape Fillies Guineas.

Equus Champion Soft Falling Rain, whose first yearlings have already fetched up to R1.4 million, is the sire of an unnamed filly (Lot 394), whose dam is a five time winning half-sister to talented G2 Premier Trophy winner Red Rake as well as to the very smart sprinter Desert Sheik.

This filly’s second dam is G1 SA Fillies Guineas winner Saudies and this is the family of Argentine champion and top class sire Ahmad.
