James Armitage’s Sandown Stud will once again be offering a quality draft at the Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

Sandown will be represented by five classy yearlings at next week’s sale, with the draft including lots by such high-class stallions as Duke Of Marmalade, Elusive Fort, Flower Alley and Philanthropist.

Cartier Champion, and classic sire, Duke Of Marmalade is the sire of Larentina (Lot 245), a regally bred filly sporting a female line of the highest order. She is a half-sister to two winners, including Fillies Mile second Aurelia Cotta, and is from the same family as five time G1 winner Duke Of Marmalade himself! Other notable runners from this family include US Horse Of The Year and outstanding sire  A P Indy, champion South African sire Al Mufti, Investec Derby winner Ruler Of The World and US champion and top stallion Lemon Drop Kid.

Wylie Hall, a multiple G1 winning son of the great Redoute’s Choice, has one member of his first crop in this draft in the form of Ballantine Hall (Lot 305). He is a colt out of a winning Var half-sister to Algoa Cup winner Forest Of Dean and hails from the same family as G1 Triple Tiara 1600 winner Kournikova.

G1 winner, and proven G1 sire, Flower Alley is the sire of Banha Bridge (Lot 339) –a half-brother to two winners including G3 Tony Ruffel winner Belong To Me. This colt’s second dam is a US stakes winning half-sister to 29 time G3 winner Boom Towner.

Equus Champion Elusive Fort, whose numerous high class runners include current stars Elusive Heart and Secret Potion, is responsible for Cove Fort (Lot 434). This grey colt, bred on the same Elusive Fort/Western Winter cross as G1 Thekwini Stakes winner Lauderdale, is out of a four time winning half-sister to G3 winner Princess Faberge (dam of Algoa Cup winner Forest Of Dean) and G1 Triple Tiara 1600 winner Kournikova.

Philanthropist has made waves this year through the deeds of his top class Hong Kong based son Singapore Sling, and the son of Kris S is represented in the Sandown draft by Place Du Marche (Lot 519). The latter is a half-sister to 3 winners, notably exported G3 Matchem Stakes winner Reim.

The stud, responsible for breeding Equus Champion French Navy among others, has been enjoying a purple patch of success of late, with recent winners to have emerged from Sandown including the very talented filly Brave Move –a winner of her last four races on the bounce, and a future feature race contender.
