Both Somerset and Southford Studs will be represented this year at the Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
Somerset will be represented by a single lot, while David Southey’s Southford Stud will offer a pair of smart yearlings at the sale.

Somerset Stud’s sole offering at the National Sale of 2018 is the beautifully bred filly Ice Dancer (Lot 1).
By the boom sire Visionaire, this filly, closely inbred to the great stallion Gone West, is a half-sister to two very smart winners.

Her dam, by Western Winter, is an own sister to Dubai stakes winner Drift Ice and a sister in blood to Horse Of The Year, and five time G1 winner Yard-Arm.

Ice Dancer’s dam is also a half-sister to none other than Triple Crown winner Abashiri and second dam is Elliodor’s G3 winning daughter Donya.

Southford Stud’s pair of National Sale yearlings includes a colt by well established sire Ideal World by the name of Ideal Man (Lot 442). This bay is a half-brother to Zim Guineas second Super Good and he is out of a Dynasty half-sister to Fillies Guineas winner Sally Bowles (dam of US G3 winner Consumer Credit).

Second in the string is Highland Gem (Lot 504), a bay daughter of leading second crop sire What A Winter. This filly is out of a half-sister to top class sprinter Fair Brutus, and second dam is a three time winning sister in blood to G1 Germiston November Handicap winner Grand Format.
