THE FABULOUS FIVE FROM WATERFORD STUD
31 May 2018

Waterford Stud will be offering five yearlings at the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale, which takes place at the Sibaya Entertainment World, just days before the running of the 2018 Vodacom Durban July.

The Waterford draft includes lots by such proven sires as Black Minnaloushe, Judpot and Seventh Rock as well as a filly from the first crop of Equus Champion Captain Of All.

A P Indy sire Judpot, whose runners include 2018 Premier’s Champions Challenge winner Coral Fever, is the sire of Compass Fire (Lot 6). This chestnut filly is a half-sister to 3 winners and is out of National Assembly half-sister to four stakes horses, most notably G3 Umkhomazi Stakes winner Captain In Command.

Dual G1 winner Black Minnaloushe, whose Triple Crown winning sire son Louis The King was sold off the 2012 KZN Sale, is the sire of Heroic Deed (Lot 97). The latter, bred on the same Black Minnaloushe/Rich Man’s Gold as Louis The King, is a half-brother to 2 winners including five time scorer Reef Of Fortune.

Sapphire Rock (Lot 98) is a filly by G1 winner and G1 sire Seventh Rock. She is out of a winning Jet Master ¾ sister to multiple stakes winner Soul Master and is out of a half-sister to the dam of R2 million plus earner Safe Harbour, with second dam being none other than G1 winner Saintly Lady.

Proven sire Ashaawes, whose best include Priceless Jewel, Reim and KZN Sale graduate Asstar, has a smart colt here in the form of Major Force (Lot 138). This chestnut is out of a 3 time winning own sister to OK Grand Challenge winner Weston Paint and half-sister to two other stakes winners, as well as the dam of Fillies Guineas winner Alexis.

Triple G1 winner, and Equus Champion, Captain Of All has a filly (Lot 173) out of a half-sister to high class stakes winner A King Is Born. Her second dam is a five time stakes winning half-sister to 16 G2 winner Bound By Honour and G2 winning two-year-old Your Eminence, and this is the famed Drohsky family.
