Riethuiskraal Stud, the source of such outstanding performers as National Colour and international G1 winner Crimson Palace, will be offering six very smart yearlings at next month’s KZN Yearling Sale, due to take place at the Sibaya Entertainment World.
Proven sire Count Dubois, whose offspring include champions Asylum Seeker, Edict Of Nantes and French Navy, has two in the Riethuiskraal draft. They include Ardenne (Lot 66) –a full or own sister to 3 winners, and bred on a similar line to G1 winners Nania, Red Ray and Set Afire, and Capetonian (Lot 85). The latter, a half-brother to useful winner Ataturk, is out of a winning daughter of multiple champion broodmare sire Fort Wood and is from the same family as Hong Kong champion Able Friend and SA Nursery winner Global News, among others.

Potala Palace, a G1 winning son of champion Singspiel, has made a pleasing with his first 2yos this season including stakes performer Watsonia and debut winner Basilius. He is represented in this draft by a colt (Lot 150) out of a five time winning daughter of international champion Daylami –also broodmare sire of Australian champion and sire sensation Pierro.

Prominent sire and G1 winner Querari has two colts in the Riethuiskraal draft –a colt (Lot 196) from the outstanding Soho Secret family, and a colt (Lot 196), out of a half-sister to 10 time winner Ryan’s A Lion, whose third dam is G1 Spinster Stakes winner and millionaire Top Corsage.

Last, but not least, is a colt (Lot 219) by Equus Champion and proven sire Jay Peg.  A half-brother to the stakes placed Balalaika, this colt is from the same Sun Lass family as recent Merchants winner The Thinker and champions Yataghan and Destroyer.
