KAROO BREEDERS OFFER THREE QUALITY LOTS AT KZN SALE
26 June 2018

Henham Stud, as Karoo Breeders, will be offering a trio of yearlings at next week’s KZN Yearling Sale, which is set to be held at the Sibaya Entertainment World on July 5th and 6th.

First of the Henham Stud’s draft is Elusive Treasure (Lot 54), a daughter of triple G1 winner and Equus Champion Elusive Fort. The latter has a top class record as a sire of fillies, with his daughters including the G1 winners Siren’s Call and Lauderdale, R2 million plus earner Safe Harbour, and this season’s G2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks winner Secret Potion.

Elusive Treasure, bred on the same Elusive Fort/Captain Al cross as stakes winner Ernie, is out of a winning own sister to the stakes placed winner of six Show A Profit. Her second dam, by leading broodmare sire Elliodor, is a half-sister to Midnight Run –a G2 winner of 14 races. This is the same family as this season’s G1 Sansui Summer Cup winner Liege.

Another champion represented in the Henham Stud draft is former July winner Greys Inn, whose offspring include dual Horse Of The Year Legal Eagle. Greys Inn is represented by Solarize (Lot 73), a half-brother to three winners. This colt is out of a winning half-sister to Cape Nursery winner Best In The West, and he shares his broodmare sire Qui Danzig with the likes of G1 winners Buy And Sell, Count The Money, Pierre Jourdan and Via Africa.

Irish 2000 Guineas winner, and proven G1 sire, Black Minnaloushe is also represented in this draft. The son of Storm Cat is the sire of Flaming Opal (Lot 183), a filly whose four winning siblings include G3 Senor Santa Handicap runner up Mr Black Tom and four time winner Green Rock.

Flaming Opal’s second dam is the six time stakes winner Soldier’s Dream, also dam of the black type winners Like A Prayer and Bartolini. The latter is bred on similar lines to the filly on offer, being sired by a son of Storm Bird –the grandsire of Black Minnaloushe.
