Schalkie Van Der Walt’s Gelykfontein Stud will be offering eight yearlings on next Thursday/Friday’s KZN Yearling Sale.

The farm’s eight strong draft includes lots by the likes of Gimmethegreenlight and Ideal World, and also offer the only yearling by hugely promising July winning sire Pomodoro on the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale.

Apples (Lot 91) is the only lot on offer by Champion First Crop Sire elect Pomodoro at the sale, and this choicely bred filly is from the very same family as the July winning star himself. Out of a daughter of Dominion Royale, Apples’ third Apples Of Gold is the fourth dam of Pomodoro.

Boom sire Gimmethegreenlight, whose offspring include recent G1 Daily News 2000 hero Surcharge, is represented in the Gelykfontein draft by Green Emerald (Lot 75). This colt is out of a Judpot half-sister to Winter Oaks winner Cause To Believe and third dam is 15 time stakes winner Izindaba.

Another in-form sire represented in this draft is Ideal World, sire of recent high class stakes winner Rainbow Bridge, Inverroche and Coral Bay. His son Ideal King (Lot 51), who is inbred to Danehill, is out of a mare who won five times, and is from the same family as champion Dash Along and Lebelo Sprint king Gold Site.

Proven speed sire Great Britain, whose offspring include former star KZN sale graduate Al Mariachi, is the sire of Miss Britain (Lot 270), a filly whose dam is a winning daughter of champion sire Jet Master (sire of, among others, Pomodoro) and SA Oaks third Pinturina.

Other lots of interest in the Gelykfontein draft include a three-parts sister to Listed Drum Star Handicap winner House Of Wax (Lot 52), a Mambo In Seattle colt from a top-class US family (Lot 126), and a three-parts sister to G1 Gold Medallion third My Jelly Bean.
