South Africa’s best value for money thoroughbred auction, the National Two Year Old Sale, is set to take place this year at the TBA complex on August 16th and 17th.
As usual, the sale has attracted support from most of South Africa’s leading breeders, and this sale looks sure to, once again, come up with its share of high class athletes.

One stud well represented at the 2018 National Two Year Old Sale is the Andalusia. This farm brings six high quality two-year-olds to the auction, with the draft including a pair of colts by boom sire Ideal World (the latter being responsible for recent British G3 winner Smart Call and fellow graded winners Inverroche and Rainbow Bridge this year).

First of the Ideal World lots in this draft is Villa’s World (Lot 111), a colt who is closely inbred to Mr Prospector and Miesque through own brothers Kingmambo and Kitalpha. Out of a winning sister to Oaks winner Villiera, this chestnut’s G3 Pucker Up Stakes winning third dam is a half-sister to the successful Australian sire Semipalatinsk.

Ideal World is also sire of The Chariot (Lot 408), a colt whose dam is a half-sister to stakes winner Sunset Tripp and whose third is Met winning champion Imperious Sue. This is the family of such outstanding gallopers as UAE Derby winner and G1 sire Victory Moon and the G1 winning siblings Real Princess and William Longsword.

Other interesting two-year-olds in the Andalusia draft are the Toreador filly Hazel Eyes (Lot434) whose four time winning dam is a sister to G1 2yo Play The Odds, the Warm White Night colt (Lot 437) whose dam is a half-sister to the stakes placed dam of five time stakes winner Miami Blues (sired by Warm White Night’s sire Western Winter), and both a colt (Lot 139) and a filly (Lot238) by Pivotal’s deceased Cape Guineas winning son Noordhoek Flyer.
