CLASS ABOUNDS IN ASCOT DRAFT

Ashley and Rose Parker’s Ascot Stud, perennially among the Leading Breeders in South Africa, will be offering 18 connected juveniles at the 2018 National Two Year Old Sale, set to take place in Germiston next month.

The farm will also be offering, as Agent for Riyo Stud, five additional lots –four of whom being sired by Ascot’s resident sire, and homebred July winner, Bold Silvano.

Ascot’s draft includes two-year-olds from the some of the very best families in the stud book, and will be offering youngsters related to such racing and breeding legends as Sadler’s Wells, Nureyev, Atlantic Jewel, Blame, Tikkanen, and 1000 Guineas winner Sleepytime.

The draft also includes one of only two juveniles on the National 2YO Sale sired by deceased champion sire Captain Al. The latter has enjoyed another massive season in 2017-2018, with Captain Al recent stars including G1 winners Sergeant Hardy, Snowdance, Tap O’ Noth and Undercover Agent, as well as 2yo stars Celtic Sea and One World.

Named True Charm (Lot 142), this filly is from the same family as outstanding international G1 winners Atlantic Jewel, King’s Apostle, Embassy and Commanding Jewel.

Bold Silvano, sire of recent standouts Bold Respect and Bold Eagle, has 12 quality two-year-olds in the Ascot draft. His lots include a half-sister to G3 Starling Stakes winner Via Seattle (Lot 157), a colt whose third dam won Royal Ascot’s G1 Coronation Stakes (Lot 162), both a filly (Lot 210) and a colt (Lot 296) from the family of Archipenko, Blame and Sadler’s Wells, and a filly, whose dam is by Gone West, whose second dam is a half-sister to 3 international G1 winners including 1000 Guineas winner Sleepytime (Lot 377).

Bold Silvano is also represented in the draft by a half-brother to G1 Cape Fillies Guineas runner up Our Destiny (Lot 439), and a colt from the family of dual G1 winner and popular shuttle sire Shalaa (Lot128).

Other choice lots in this quality draft include a Jackson colt out of four time stakes winner Scented Ash (Lot 36), a Soft Falling Rain colt out of a seven time stakes winning daughter of Fort Wood (Lot 69), a Capetown Noir colt whose dam is a half-sister to a nine time stakes winner (Lot 150), and a  Judpot filly whose G2 winning dam is a half-sister to champion, and G1 producer, Consensual (Lot 215).
