ESTABLISHED CAPE BREEDERS OFFER QUALITY AT 2YO SALE
26 July 2018

Judy Stegeman, of Digteby Stud, and Dr Ian Heyns are two well established Cape breeders, who, once again, will be represented by quality drafts at this year’s National Two Year Old Sale.

Digteby, whose graduates include former Equus Champion Hot Ticket, brings two quality fillies to this year’s auction, while Ian (who was represented no fewer than three runners in the 2081 Vodacom Durban July), will be offering five smart two-year-olds at next month’s sale.

First of the Digteby pair is a chestnut daughter (Lot 42) of champion and outstanding filly sire Elusive Fort. This well bred filly is out of a winning half-sister to the dam of millionaire and champion Hot Ticket,  and her second dam is the flying G2 Concord Stakes winner Hot Seven, a daughter of speed sire Harry Hotspur.

Equus Champion Vercingetorix is represented on the sale by a filly (Lot 292) who is a ¾ sister to none other than champion and multiple graded stakes winner Hot Ticket himself. Hot Ticket, like Vercingetorix, is a son of Silvano, and the filly in question is also a close relative of two other winners.

Ian Heyns, whose graduates include such recent high class performers as Secret Potion, Star Express, Star Burst Galaxy and Copper Force, is also offering a quality draft at the 2018 National Two Year Old Sale. His Brave Tin Soldier colt Ancient State (Lot 1) is out of a winning Western Winter half-sister to Cape Classic hero Eighth Wonder, while Good To Know (Lot 12) is a Philanthropist half-brother to smart pair of Jeweller’s Joy and Rings And Things.

Triple G1 winner Jackson is responsible for Summer Games (Lot 262), a filly whose dam is a half-sister to the Heyns bred SA Derby winner Seal, while Never Surrender (Lot 295) is a Vercingetorix half-sister to 3 winners including high class Zimbabwean stakes winner Ashton Park and her dam is a winning sister to Algoa Cup heroine Escapology.

Segontium (Lot 341) is an Elusive Fort colt bred on the same cross as Summer Cup second Fort Ember. This colt is a half-brother to three winners notably talented feature race contender Hard To Play and he is out of a 3 time winning daughter of G3 winner Kefaah’s Secret.
