Long time supporter of the National Two Year Old Sale, the Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud once again bring a large, quality draft to this year’s auction.

The draft includes two-year-olds by some of South Africa’s most promising and proven stallions, with the 24 strong Hemel ‘N Aarde string containing lots by the likes of Elusive Fort, Jackson, Judpot, Pomodoro, Toreador, Twice Over and What A Winter.

Hemel ‘N Aarde will also be offering lots from the first local crops of such stallions as Divine Jet, Kingsbarns, and Time Thief.
Increasingly successful sire Elusive Fort is represented in this draft by a colt (Lot 20) whose dam finished second in the G3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery, while the Jackson filly Lisa Marie (Lot 77) is out of a four time winning Captain Al own sister to Colorado King Stakes winner Captain’s Wild. Former Equus Outstanding Stallion Judpot, sire of recent G1 winner Coral Fever, is the sire of a colt (Lot 57) whose dam is a four time winning ¾ sister to Protea Stakes winner Kushka.
July winner Pomodoro, whose first crop includes G1 winning filly Return Flight, is the sire of a half-sister (Lot 393) to 4 winners, notably Gold Bowl second Lions Emblem, while July sire Twice Over, one of the country’s hottest young stallions, is represented in this draft by Twice The Flight (Lot 264). The latter is a half-brother to six winners and hails from the same family as multiple G1 winning champion Aslan.

Another boom sire represented in this draft is multiple Equus Champion What A Winter. His daughter Winter In Morocco (Lot 232) is out of a four time winning daughter of Jet Master and is from the immediate family of Equus Champion 2YO Seventh Plain.

High class sprinter Divine Jet’s pair on offer include a half-sister (Lot 204) to G3 Kings Cup second Candy Moon, and a colt (Lot 205) whose winning dam is a winning Trippi half-sister to six time stakes winner Dressed In Cotton. Now deceased, Galileo’s G1 Racing Post Trophy winner Kingsbarns is responsible for Walnut (Lot 67), a colt whose second dam is a full sister to multiple G1 winning champion Jungle Warrior.

Redoute’s Choice son Time Thief, sire of Australian G1 winner and millionaire In Her Time, is the sire of a filly (Lot 16) out of a stakes placed daughter of Rock Of Gibraltar, and a filly (Lot 277)from the family of high class recent stakes winning filly Dagmar and G1 winner Villandry.

Other lots to note in the Hemel ‘N Aarde draft are the Toreador filly (Lot 76) from the family of star fillies Helenita, Little Ballerina and Trojan Belle, the Alado colt (Lot 271) whose dam is a ¾ sister to G1 winners Amberpondo and Ethereal Lady, the Black Minnaloushe filly (Lot 39) whose fourth dam won the classic 1000 Guineas, and the Where’s That Tiger daughter (Lot 251) whose second dam is G1 winner Garb Of Guise.
