G1 WINNERS, G1 SIRES HIGHLIGHT LA BERG DRAFT
3 August 2018

Hanno Joubert’s La Berg Stud will be represented by nine lots at this month’s National Two-Year-Old Sale.

The La Berg draft includes lots by such proven G1 sires as Black Minnaloushe, Count Dubois, Judpot and Seventh Rock.

Respectable Jud (Lot 9) is a well related Judpot colt, whose five winning siblings include three time winner Respectable Lady –dam of G1 Tsogo Sun Sprint winner and Equus Award nominee Bold Respect, and this colt is bred on the same cross as Equus Champion Along Came Polly.

Gold Medallion winner and dual Gold Medallion winning sire Seventh Rock’s pair of fillies include a daughter (Lot 173) of the stakes placed four time winner Blingle Bells, and a half-sister (Lot 318) to 11 time stakes winner Sir Duke.

Former Equus Outstanding Stallion, and proven sire of champions, Count Dubois is represented by a filly (Lot 216) whose four time winning dam is a half-sister to the high class stakes performers Dachmar and Sterling Land, while the Jay Peg filly (Lot127) in the La Berg draft is out of a daughter of newly crowned Champion Broodmare Sire Western Winter and Winter Oaks third Forbidden Dream.

Other interesting lots in this draft include a Vercingetorix filly (Lot 104) out of G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship second Up Front, a Black Minnaloushe filly (Lot 359) whose granddam won the SA Oaks and a Warm White Night colt (Lot 426) from the immediate family of current high class sprinter Pinnacle Peak.

Excitingly, farm’s Grooms Program are also represented at the Two Year Old Sale this year, and they bring forward a colt (Lot 195) from the first crop of Equus Champion Sprinter Captain Of All. This colt, whose sire is a triple G1 winning son of champion sire Captain Al, is out of a daughter of hugely successful broodmare sire Horse Chestnut and speedy G3 Southern Cross third Maggie.
