Ceres farm, Lammerskraal Stud, will be offering a small, but select, draft of seven two-year-olds on the upcoming National Two Year Old Sale in Germiston.
A feature of the draft is the quality of racemare and or producer represented –with six of the lots in the Lammerskraal draft being produced either by a stakes winner or stakes producing mare.
Tawny Jet (Lot 154) is a filly by Lammerskraal’s highly successful sire Go Deputy –also responsible for high class fillies Flying Ice, Widow’s Lamp, Flichity By Farr, Adobe Pink and Tambalang. This filly, a ¾ sister to the Go Deputy sired stakes performer Rap Attack, is out of a winning Jet Master daughter of Ruffian Stakes winner Aquila Rapax. This is the same family as Go Deputy’s top class filyl Adobe Pink and numerous G1 winners.

Dual G1 winning Redoute’s Choice son Wylie Hall is the sire of Wylie Wench (Lot 238) –a half-sister to five winners, notably G1 winning Equus Champion 2YO Filly Laverna and G3 Lonsdale Stirrup Cup winner Nevvay. This filly’s first two dams are G1 winners, with Wylie Wench being produced by Equus Champion Older Female Sprinter Enchantress –a sister in blood to fellow Equus Champion National Currency.

Cartier Champion Duke Of Marmalade made a stellar start with his first local 2yos in 2017-2018 and the son of Danehill is represented by Royal Attire (Lot 243) here. This colt, from the same family as G1 winner and leading Equus Award contender Undercover Agent, is out of six time stakes winner Evening Attire and is thus a half-brother to the smart winners Eddie Sweat and Billy Silver.

Field Maiden (Lot 245) is a superbly bred filly, being a daughter of boom sire Gimmethegreenlight and the Western Winter sired G1 Empress Club Stakes winner Fair Maiden, while Mount Eiger (Lot 269) is a half or full brother to no fewer than 12 winners –notably G2 Camellia Stakes winner Chant De Nuit (dam of near millionaire African Ruler).

Gail Force (Lot 302) is a cleverly named filly from the first crop of Equus Champion Soft Falling Rain and she is out of the Jallad sired Equus Champion and dual Oaks winner Icy Air. The latter has proven a prolific producer, with her seven winners including exported G2 winner Icy Trail and three other black type performers.

Last, but not least, is Matterhorn (Lot 409) a colt by dual Canadian champion Marchfield. This colt, a half-brother to the very smart New Fort, is out of Next Spring, a stakes winning Western Winter half-sister to millionaire and dual G2 J&B Reserve Stayers winner Omaha Beach. This is the family of Horse Of The Year and July winner Classic Flag.

The 2018 National Two Year Old Sale takes place at the TBA complex on August 16th and 17th, with trading due to commence daily at 11:am.

Day one will see the first 250 lots go through the ring, with the remainder up for sale on the Friday.
