One of South Africa’s top stud-farms, and perennial leading breeders, Maine Chance Farms will be represented by a powerful draft of 18 juveniles at this month’s National Two Year Old Sale.

Recently crowned Champion Sire of 2YOs (for a second year running), Var is represented in the draft by Stupefy (Lot 66). This colt is out of a three time winning Silvano daughter of champion racemare Scented Royal, with Stupefy’s dam being a sister in blood to Dubai star and local Guineas winner Janoobi.

Maine Chance’s own resident multiple champion sire Silvano has two in the draft –Stutgart (Lot 82) is out of Surabi, a G2 winning half-sister to G1 Matriarch Stakes winner Gypsy’s Warning, while Dancinginthewind (Lot 213) is a filly out of stakes placed Jet Master mare Daily Flight from the family of Silvano sired G2 winner Arion.

Dynasty is yet another outstanding sire represented in this draft – his daughter Transcend (Lot 89) is a half-sister to 6 winners and she is out of a stakes winning Lomitas mare, and, is thus bred on the same cross as Dynasty’s Politician Stakes winner Horizon.

Maine Chance’s increasingly successful Querari has three here –a colt (Lot 141) from the family of G1 winning siblings Al Nitak and The Sheik, a colt (Lot 419) whose dam is an own sister to July runner up and R2 million plus earner Punta Arenas, and a colt (Lot 422) from an outstanding international family whose relatives include one of the world’s hottest stallions in the form of Quality Road.

Another popular Maine Chance sire represented at this sale is former Equus Champion Vercingetorix. The son of Silvano has a trio of fillies on offer, notably a filly (Lot 286) from the same family as high class Silvano daughters Happy Spirit and Happy Valentine, a half-sister (Lot 389) to the smart filly Make Me Happy, and a half-sister (Lot 396) to exported Jubilee Handicap winner and July fourth Eton Square.

Other notable lots in the Maine Chance draft this year are the Master Of My Fate filly (Lot 149) out of G2 Southern Cross Stakes runner up Angel At My Table, the Wylie Hall colt (Lot 235) whose Elusive Quality sired dam is out of Australian G2 winner Market Price, and the Pomodoro filly (Lot 421) who hails from the same family as current high class sprinter Pinnacle Peak.
