Six of Rosedene’s nine lots carded for next week’s National Two Year Old Sale are the progeny of a July winning champion whose son is South Africa’s reigning Horse Of The Year.

Greys Inn, the sire of local superstar Legal Eagle –who was named the Cape Breeders’ Horse Of The Year foe 2017-2018, was a superb racehorse whose victories included a memorable score in the 2004 Vodacom Durban July.

From the same family as leading Australian sire Zeditave, Greys Inn is strongly represented in the Rosedene draft. His first lot is a full-sister (Lot 168) to Zimbabwe Oaks second Belo Horizonte and half-sister to the smart, stakes placed seven time winner Bella Jet.

Another smart sort by the July winning Equus Champion is the colt (Lot 201) out of the smart Cleome –a half-sister to Cape Nursery winner The West Is Wide, while the Greys Inn colt (Lot 217) out of Defining Beauty is a brother to a debut winner, and this colt’s dam is a half-sister to two graded stakes winners notably Equus Champion Thundering Star.

Greys Inn also has a colt (Lot 229) from the same family as another July winning champion Trademark, a filly (Lot 365) whose dam is a half-sister to champion filly League Title, and a filly (Lot 444) out of an Elliodor half-sister to G3 Magnolia Handicap victress Star Sapphire.

Rosedene will also be offering a trio of colts by Gauteng Guineas winning millionaire Biarritz, sire of numerous decent winners from limited opportunities. This trio includes a full-brother (Lot 102) to the stakes placed Crystalline, a colt (Lot 135) whose winning dam is a half-sister to G1 Singapore Cup winner and G1 Dubai World Cup second Lizard’s Desire, and a colt (Lot 180) whose three time winning dam is a half-sister to champion Thundering Star.
