Jane Thomas’ Far End Racing Stables will be offering a large draft, as agent, at November’s Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale in Germiston.
The Far End Ready To Run’s 22 strong draft offers something for everyone, with the draft including two-year-olds by such standout sires as Captain Al, Gimmethegreenlight, Silvano, Var and What A Winter, as well as lots by such exciting first crop stallions as Capetown Noir and Soft Falling Rain.

Far End will be offering the only two-year-old by ill-fated champion sire Captain Al at the 2018 Ready To Run Sale. Captain Carmel (Lot 101), a colt bred on the massively successful Captain Al/Fort Wood cross, is out of a four time winning mare whose dam is a half-sister to the G1 winners Rudra and Set Afire. This colt is very closely related to the Captain Al sired G3 winner Captain Chaos.

Silvano is another champion sire represented in the Far End draft. He is responsible for Leprechaun (Lot 25), a colt out of former G2  The Fillies Nursery winner Waywest Goddess, already dam of the very smart filly Heaven’s Reward.

Last season’s Champion First Crop Sire Pomodoro has two in this draft –both fillies. The Pomodoro filly (Lot 26) out of the G3 placed Var mare Wounded Knee is very closely related to multiple G1 winning champion Yorker, while the second Pomodoro filly is (Lot 108) out of speedy four time stakes winner Pacific Breeze.

Var, Champion Sire of 2YOs in South Africa the past two years running, has two in the draft –a colt (Lot 20) out of Fort Wood sired Oaks winner Sweetie Pie, and Beautiful Mind (Lot 98). The latter is a full sister to the top class performers Schiffer and Mastermind.
Equus Champion Soft Falling Rain’s tragic recent death is a sad blow to the local breeding industry but the magnificent son of National Assembly does have three tempting lots in the Far End’s 2018 Ready To Run draft. This trio includes a ¾ brother (Lot 50) to record breaking stakes winner In Like Flynn, a colt (Lot 63) out of Gold Bracelet runner up Estidraaj, and a filly (Lot 100) out of high class racemare Mombasa.

Other exciting prospects in this exceptional draft include a Gimmethegreenlight colt (Lot 79) from the family of Busted, Elliodor and Spook Express, a Toreador colt (Lot 87) whose winning dam is a ½ sister to the dam of dual Horse Of The Year Variety Club, and the What A Winter filly (Lot 46) whose dam  winning dam is a ½ sister to the dam of Merchants winner Sniper Shot.
