SOUTHFORD, STONE HILL STUDS TO OFFER QUALITY AT READY TO RUN
9 October 2018

Heinrich Rix’s Stone Hill Stud will be offering a small but quality draft at this year’s Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale, while long time BSA supporter David Southey’s Southford Stud will bringing forward a single lot at this premier auction.
Remarkably, all six of the Stone Hill lots are sired by G1 winners and or official champions.

Among the champions represented in this draft is Captain Of All –South Africa’s Equus Champion Sprinter of 2014-2015. One of the best sons of champion sire Captain Al, Captain Of All is represented by a cracking filly in this draft in the form of Her Eminence (Lot 5). A half-sister to two winners, Her Eminence is out of a half-sister to the Captain Al sired dam of exported G1 winner Potent Power and to G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes winner Hard Rock.

Another Equus Champion represented in this draft is the increasingly successful Klipdrif Stud based Elusive Fort. That son of Fort Wood has three in the Stone Hill Stud draft, with his trio including Oyster King (Lot 22) –a colt out of a three time winning Jallad mare who is a three-parts sister to the dam of Golden Horseshoe hero Port Of London.
Elusive Fort is also sire of Hold Your Horses (Lot 78) –a colt from the family of champions Circle Of Life and Tecla Bluff, as well as Ford Indigo (Lot 90). The latter is out of a winning half-sister to stakes placed two-year-old Shingle Beach and this classically bred is from the same female line as none other than Prix de’l Arc de Triomphe heroine Solemia.

Former L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner Gimmethegreenlight has quickly established himself as one of South Africa’s elite sires and the son of More Than Ready is represented in this draft by a regally bred colt out of G3 Jacaranda Handicap winner Amber Orchid. The latter is a daughter of one of the world’s truly great sires in Dubawi and she traces back directly in female line to the breed shaping matriarch Pelting.

Blue blooded Pathfork, already a proven G1 sire, is yet another official champion represented in this quality draft. The son of Distorted Humor is the sire of Shu Shu B (Lot 74), a filly out of a winning daughter of increasingly successful broodmare sire Kahal –and this is the same family as that of graded winners Halo Hunter and Safe Structure.

Sole offering from the Southford Stud is For France (Lot 94), a colt by the Oasis Dream stallion Main Aim.
For France, a son of a top class sprinter who was second in the July Cup, is a half-brother to a winner and is out of daughter of G2 racemare Ice Lily.

This is the same family as former G1 SA Guineas winner State Control.
