Some of South Africa’s best bred and most promising first crop stallions will be represented at the 2018 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale next month.
Remarkably, there are four Equus Champions among the first crop sires at this year’s auction.

One of them is triple G1 winner Capetown Noir, who was South Africa’s Champion Miler of 2014.
The son of champion sire Western Winter and Broodmare Of The Year Akinfeet has a strong first crop draft of 16 two-year-olds on the Ready To Run Sale, with the former champion represented by some very appealing individuals.
His draft includes a half-brother to G3 winner Royal Pleasure (Lot 16), a half-brother to ill-fated Ready To Run Cup winner Big Bear (Lot 72), a half-brother to SA Derby winner Hero’s Honour and G1 filly Railtrip (Lot 73), and a colt bred on very similar lines to the Western Winter sired Horse Of The Year Yard-Arm (Lot 95).
Another Equus Champion represented by members of his first crop at this year’s sale is champion sprinter Captain Of All.
The triple G1 winning son of Captain Al has two fillies on sale –a three-parts sister to the dam of exported G1 Gold Medallion winner Potent Power (Lot 5), and a filly whose dam is a daughter of Southern Halo and champion racemare Faralmond (Lot 31).

Jet Master excelled last season as a sire of sires, through the likes of Master Of My Fate and Pomodoro, and his G2 sprinting son Divine Jet is another well bred son of that seven times champion sire with offspring on sale. Members of Divine Jet’s first crop at the Ready To Run Sale include a filly closely related to multiple champion J J The Jet Plane (Lot 9), a filly from the family of Equus Champions Celtic Grove and Marinaresco (Lot 80) and a colt whose 3 time winning dam is a half-sister to G3 winning juvenile Elegant Blush (Lot 111).

Indian Ridge’s multiple G1 winning son Linngari has some eye cracking members of his first full South African crop on sale here. His five lots on offer include a colt whose dam is a three-parts sister to Yard-Arm (Lot 37), a colt from the family of Fillies Guineas winners Sparkling Gem and Flying Snowdrop (Lot92), and a colt whose notable relatives include international group winners CD Europe, D’Anjou and Iveagh Gardens (Lot 97).

South Africa lost a potentially exceptional young sire when former Equus Champion and G2 Nayef Joel Stakes winner Soft Falling Rain died earlier this year. The G1 SA Nursery winner has three quality lots on sale at the 2018 Ready To Run Sale –a ¾ brother to record breaking stakes winner In Like Flynn (Lot 50), a son of Gold Bracelet runner up Estidraaj (Lot 63), and a filly out of the well related Tibouchina Stakes runner up Mombasa (Lot 100).
Silvano sired Equus Champion and G1 Jebel Hatta hero Vercingetorix is another young stallion whose first yearlings were exceptionally well received. He has one lot on sale here –a filly closely related to the Silvano sired stars Happy Valentine and Happy Spirit, from the same family as globetrotting superstar Starcraft (Lot 76).

Multiple G1 winner Wylie Hall shares his triple Australian champion sire Redoute’s Choice with outstanding 3yo The Autumn Sun and champion sire Snitzel. Wylie Hall has a single member of his first crop on sale here –a filly whose four time winning dam is a half-sister to G3 Tommy Hotspur winner Sharp Design, and this is the same family as G1 winning filly Sarabande among others.
