THE READY TO RUN SALE A GREAT PLACE FOR BARGAIN BUYS!
25 October 2018

When the 2018 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale takes place at the TBA complex on November 4th, buyers in attendance would be wise to remember the long list of wonderful bargain buys previously acquired at past Ready To Run auctions.

This auction represents a wonderful opportunity for discerning buyers, with an eye for a good horse, to acquire top class stock –at considerably lower prices than what they may expect to pay at the country’s premier yearling sales.

In recent times, the Emperors Palace version of the Ready To Run has spawned close on 40 millionaires, the newest among whom have only just completed their three year old careers. What’s more, they include three of the best of their generation!

Among the bargain buys to have come off past Ready To Run Sales, of the very best examples was the wonderful Pierre Jourdan who cost a mere R60 000 at the 2008 Ready To Run Sale. A son of Parade Leader, Pierre Jourdan became the “People’s Horse”, with his nine victories including the G1 SA Classic, and G2 Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile.

One of the best bargain buys in SA racing history, Pierre Jourdan banked more than R4.5 million during his illustrious career, which also saw the gallant gelding finish second, to fellow Ready To Run graduate Igugu, in the 2011 G1 Vodacom Durban July.

Record breaking Hear The Drums, whose 35 wins netted connections nearly R2 000 000 in stakes, was a R42 000 buy from a past Ready To Run Sale, while another “cheapie” graduate of the sale was Lebeoana, a R90 000 buy who has since gone on to earn more than R500 000 on the track.

Remarkably durable campaigner Stavinsky cost a mere R70 000 when purchased off the 2011 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale, and that Stage Call son went on to win 11 races and earn more than R1 000 000 in prize money!

Another millionaire to go through the Ready To Run Sale was Judicial (a vendor buy-back in 2012), with that tough as teak gelding landing the 2014 G2 Victory Moon Stakes in a career which has seen that galloper bank nearly R1.9 million in stakes.
Talented filly Winter Star, whose win in the 2013 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup helped push her earnings to  over R1.7 million, was yet another good buy –having cost just R100 00 at the 2011 Ready To Run auction.

Don’t miss your chance to acquire another millionaire at this year’s sale!

The 2018 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale will commence at 14:00pm Sunday week.
