Ladder Man, who topped the 2017 KZN Yearling Sale, got off the mark with an impressive victory at Kenilworth on Saturday.
One of three winners on the card for trainer Justin Snaith and jockey Richard Fourie, the gelding got loose and bolted the course but defied this with a comprehensive win over 1600 metres.

Dispatched the 57-20 tote favourite,  Ladder Man bounded clear in the closing stages to shed his maiden by two lengths.

Consigned by breeder Ridgemont Highlands, Ladder Man was knocked down to part-owner Nick Jonsson for R800 000 at the 2017 KZN Yearling Sale.

One of five winners over the weekend for his sire Twice Over, Ladder Man races for Messrs Jonsson and Taylor.

The former sales topper was produced by the winning Tapit mare Gin Rummy, whose granddam, Family Enterprize, won seven times including the G1 Spinaway Stakes.

Further back this is the family of Epsom Derby winner and outstanding sire Roberto.

Graduates of the KZN Yearling Sale continue to impress, with other recent notable performers to have graduated from past renewals of that sale including multiple G1 winner  Eyes Wide Open, talented 3yo In Cahoots, the unbeaten Givinitsum, and Post-Merchants victor Sniper Shot.
