South Africa’s reigning champion breeders, Klawervlei Stud, will be offering a large draft at the 2019 Cape Yearling Sale, due to take place at the Mistico Equestrian Centre next month.

The Bonnievale farm will also be offering yearlings by the very exciting and popular young stallions Captain Of All, Coup De Grace and Vercingetorix.

Red hot sire Gimmethegreenlight is represented by a filly (Lot 30) whose G3 placed dam is a daughter of Klawervlei’s deceased champion sire Captain Al, while former Equus Champion Elusive Fort has a filly (Lot 66) whose stakes winning dam is from the immediate family of Equus Champion Capetown Noir.

European champion Twice Over made a blistering start with his first crop yielding such as recent G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner and G1 winner Sand And Sea, and the four time G1 winner has two yearlings in this draft. His filly (Lot 58) is out of a four time winning ¾ sister to G1 President’s Champions Challenge winner Happy Landing, while his daughter (Lot 128) out of 3 time winning Elusive Quality mare Quality Alone is from the immediate family of Irish Oaks winner Lailani.

Resident July winning stallion, and last season’s Champion First Crop Sire, Pomodoro has ten in this draft –including a filly (Lot 46) whose five time winning dam is a half-sister to last season’s G1 Vodacom Durban July third Elusive Silva, a daughter of the stakes placed six time winner Enchanted Silk (Lot 47), and a filly (Lot 178) who traces back directly in female line to the immortal broodmare Almahmoud.

Tapit’s multiple graded stakes winner Coup De Grace has three lots in the Klawervlei draft –including a filly (Lot 80) from the family of speedy Australian G1 winner and successful sire Charge Forward, while the Klawervlei bred current leading first crop sire Vercingetorix’s trio on offer here includes a colt (Lot 101) out of a three time winning Giant’s Causeway mare from the same female line as breed shaping stallions Northern Dancer, Danehill and Machiavellian.

Other intriguing lots in this draft include the What A Winter colt (Lot 94) from the family of Epsom classic winners Lammtarra and Snowbride, the  What A Winter filly (Lot 159) whose winning dam is a half-sister to G2 Post Merchants winner Splash Gold, and the Captain Of All filly (Lot 162) whose dam is Listed Syringa Handicap winner Start Me Up.

Klawervlei's John Koster says of his draft, "We we have a brace of very nice Pomodoro’s. As with new stallions, one gets to mate them better once we have seen the first couple of crops.
Our Gimmethegreenlight filly (Lot 30) is bred on the same cross as G1 winner Gunner, while we are also offering a Vercingetorix colt (Lot101) from the same family as Danehill."
