Piketberg farm, Moutonshoek, will be offering a large draft of 24 yearlings at next month’s Cape Yearling Sale.
The draft consists of yearlings by the likes of Judpot, Mambo In Seattle, Marchfield and Philanthropist, as well as by the very exciting young Galileo sire Global View.

The latter, whose first crop has already made up to R1.3 million, is represented in this draft by a colt (Lot 70) whose dam is a half-sister to Durbanville Cup hero Thanks John, and by a filly (Lot 160) whose winning dam is a daughter of G3 Oaks Trial winner Sporting Model.

Former Equus Outstanding Stallion Judpot is the sire of Music And Lyrics (Lot 163) a filly who is a ¾ sister to the Judpot sired G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic winner Juxtapose.
Other lots of interest in this substantial draft include Professor Pine (Lot 17) –a Philanthropist colt whose dam is a half-sister to US G1 winner and sire Snow Ridge, Helen Of Britain (41) a daughter of Mambo In Seattle and Winter Oaks winner Cymbeline, the Mambo In Seattle filly (Lot64) whose dam is a half-sister to the speedy Moutonshoek bred stakes winner Kissable, and Iced Tea (Lot77).

The latter is a daughter of proven sire Mambo In Seattle and is out of former UAE Oaks winner Imperial Ice.

Mambo In Seattle, whose G1 performer Majestic Mambo has been exported to Dubai, is also responsible for Lundy Island (Lot 97) –a half-sister to the useful winners Gun Hill and Spring Poetry, and Banzai Pipeline (whose first three dams are all black type performers). The latter (Lot 166) is out of the very smart, stakes performer Surfer Girl and is closely inbred to Broodmare Of The Year Weekend Surprise.
Moutonshoek’s notable recent graduates include 2018 G1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge winner Undercover Agent, exported G1 Daily News 2000 runner up Majestic Mambo and the very talented G1 performer Noble Secret. The latter has won his last two starts by an aggregate of nearly six lengths and looks a legitimate feature race contender!
