The exquisite Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm has a wonderful record of offering high class thoroughbreds at the National Yearling Sale.

Subsequent graded stakes winners sold by Avontuur at previous National Sales include the likes of dual Horse Of The Year Legal Eagle, Charity Mile winner Alderry, the recently retired R1.5 million plus earner Tevez, The Nursery king Vacherin, Post-Merchants winner Royal IQ, and Gold Bowl winner Canterbury Tale.

The farm, based just outside Somerset West, will, once again, be offering a magnificent draft at the National Sale this year, with its draft including yearlings by such notable stallions as four times Equus Outstanding Stallion Dynasty and the top class Avontuur sires Var and Oratorio, as well by such promising young sires as Captain Of All, Futura, and Master Of My Fate.

The draft also includes half siblings to such notable G1 winners Val De Ra, Attenborough, Big City Life and King Of Pain –making the Avontuur consignment one of the very best on offer at the 2019 National Yearling Sale.

Dynasty, perennially one of South Africa’s top sires, has two lots –a colt (Lot34) out of G1 SA Fillies Classic winner Bambina Stripes, and a colt (Lot146) out of Avontuur’s recently retired star producer Minelli. To date, the latter has produced eight winners and five stakes winners, including multiple G1 winning champion Val De Ra (dam of smart filly Miss Frankel) and the graded stakes winners Cue The Music and Tevez.

The farm’s outstanding sire Var, a dual Champion Sire of 2YOs who has already been responsible for 22 G1 horses to date, has four top quality lots in this draft. Var’s daughter (Lot 32) out of G3 Jacaranda Handicap winner Azabu Park is a half-sister to G3 winner Jet Set Go (whose Var filly sells as Lot 408 on this sale), while his colt (Lot 107) out of In Camera is a half-brother to G1 Computaform Sprint winner Attenborough.

Var also has a colt (Lot 462) out of Miswaki mare Murmuration –which makes the colt (a ¾ brother to G2 performer Varumba and full brother to the smart Varbration) a half-brother to numerous winners including G3 Byerley Turk hero Mambo Mime.

Other exciting lots in this 17 strong draft include Lucy Belle (Lot 250), an Oratorio half-sister to G1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge winner King Of Pain, Chicago West (Lot 337) an Oratorio half-brother to short-lived champion Big City Life and G3 Final Fling Stakes winner Cash Register, and All Sorts (Lot 310).

The latter, a filly from the first crop of Dynasty sired Horse Of The Year Futura, is a  half-sister to 3 winners including the smart G2 performer Vous Et Var.
