The Birch Bros’ Vogel Vlei Stud will be offering a nine strong string at the  Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale next month.

Their draft includes yearlings by such popular sires as Ideal World, Master Of My Fate and Querari, as well as lots from the first crop of the well performed stallions Coup De Grace, Global View and Willow Magic.

A nursery ground for many of South Africa’s greatest champions, Vogel Vlei was established in 1910 and has produced such champions as Sea Cottage, Colorado King and Wolf Power, while the farm priding its ability to breed quality horses while letting their horses run in large spacious pasture areas and natural grasslands.

In more recent times, notable graduates of the Vogel Vlei Stud include classy G3 Strelitzia Stakes winner Inverroche and exported KZN Yearling Sale Million winner Givinitsum.

Ideal World, whose progeny include the Met winners Rainbow Bridge and Smart Call, has two in the draft –a filly (Lot 251) whose winning dam is a ¾ sister to Equus Champion Special Parade, and a colt (Lot 329) whose dam is a winning full-sister to G1 Gold Medallion winner Zeeno and half-sister to promising sire Skitt Skizzle.

Querari is another top class sire doubly represented in this draft –his son Queue Wing (Lot 264) is out of a winning ½ sister to the dam of millionaire Red Barrel, while Querari filly Quenanza (Lot 366) is out of a daughter of Silvano and G3 Prix du Cap winner Golden Shina.

Hot young sire Master Of My Fate is the sire of Ownyourfate (Lot 308), a colt whose winning dam is an own sister to G1 Golden Slipper winner Bilateral, while Equus Champion Sprinter Captain Of All is represented in this draft by a three-parts brother (Lot 381) to stakes winner Only Emily.

Exciting young stallions Coup De Grace, Global View and Willow Magic all have first crop lots in the Birch Bros draft. The Coup De Grace colt Coup For Lute (Lot 438) is out of a winning Western Winter ½ sister to G3 winner Fine Feather and is from the family of champion Historic Lady, while SA Nursery winner Willow Magic is represented here by Wieldthewillow (Lot488) –whose four time winning dam is a ½ sister to multiple G1 winner and Met runner up North By Northwest.

Galileo son Global View is responsible for Going Global (Lot 468) –a colt from the family of champion Highland Night and multiple G1 winning sire Warm White Night.
