BOLAND OFFER NINE TOP LOTS AT NATIONAL SALE
25 March 2019

Eugene Freeman’s Boland Stud, who sold a Vercingetorix colt for R2 200 000 at the 2018 National Sale, will once again be offering a high class draft at the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

Boland’s nine strong draft include yearlings by the top stallions Captain Al, Gimmethegreenlight, Querari, Trippi and What A Winter, as well as by such popular and exciting sires as Coup De Grace, Futura, Master Of My Fate, and Wylie Hall.

Champion sprinter and G1 sire What A Winter is represented in the Boland draft by a colt (Lot 100) whose winning Silvano sired dam is a half-sister to G2 SA Fillies Nursery winner Hidden Beauty.
This is “a beautiful, strong and athletic colt.”

Another colt to catch the eye in the draft is the Querari colt (Lot 226) whose three time winning dam is a half-sister to King’s Cup winner Pirate’s Gold. Eugene describes this well bred colt as,”beautifully balanced and is an absolute cracker!”.

Boland has enjoyed plenty of success with the late champion sire Captain Al, whose Boland Stud bred runners include multiple G2 winner Captain Aldo and Perfect Promise Sprint winner The Merry Widow.
The farm has come up with another cracker by Captain Al in the form of a full-sister (Lot 152) to the useful filly Runaway Gal. A three-parts sister to triple G1 winner Captain America, and from the great Queen Of Light family, this is a “powerful, graceful mover with an elastic stride and a pedigree to die for!   She looks very special.”

Boland Stud’s Gimmethegreenlight filly (Lot 517) is out of a dual winning half-sister to August Stakes winner Storm Crossing, while the Trippi filly (Lot 565) is out of a stakes placed daughter of Tiger Ridge from the same family as Noble Secret and G1 Computaform Sprint winner Noble Heir.

Tapit’s dual graded stakes winner Coup De Grace is represented in this draft by a filly (Lot 268) whose dam is a winning Jet Master half-sister to G1 winning sprinter O Caesour, while Horse Of The Year, and four time G1 winner Futura is another represented by a very well related yearling.

Futura is represented on the 2019 National Sale by a half-sister to 8 winners, notably former Singapore star Flax, and to classy R600 000 plus earner Silver Spring.

The Master Of My Fate filly (Lot 299), whose 5 time winning dam is a ¾ sister to a G1 winner, is described by Eugene as “a beautiful big, strong, awesome looking filly!”

Boland are also keen on their Wylie Hall colt (Lot 407) out of Thundering Jet’s own sister Jet Princess. A half-brother to very useful filly Dancing Queen, this colt is a “beautifully balanced colt, who looks like a typical Jet Master!”
