Mike Barnard’s Daytona Stud has bred some outstanding racehorses over the years, with Daytona’s roll of honour including multiple Equus Champion and hot young sire What A Winter, millionaire Whiteline Fever, remarkable globetrotter Tiza, Cape Fillies Guineas winner Sport’s Chestnut, Gr1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship victress Geepee S, and recent Storm Bird Stakes dead-heater Twilight Moon.

Daytona will be offering a trio of high quality yearlings at this year’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, with the farm’s lots including the progeny of the aforementioned What A Winter, Duke Of Marmalade and Philanthropist.

Among the draft is a Duke Of Marmalade half-brother to Whiteline Fever named Expression Session (Lot 384).
Not only is this colt a half-brother to a dual Hawaii Stakes winning millionaire in Whiteline Fever, Expression Session is out of a winning half-sister to the dam of four stakes winners, notably the globe-trotting champion and successful stallion Jay Peg.

Winter Vacation (Lot 311) is a colt by the Daytona bred champion and hugely successful young stallion What A Winter. This colt, who shares his sire with recent G1 winner Clouds Unfold and Ibhayi Stakes victor Fabian, is a half-brother to 2 winners (including the stakes placed Watsonia) and his Fort Wood sired dam is a half-sister to G3 King’s Cup hero Olympic Gold.

Philanthropist, whose progeny includes Hong Kong star Singapore Sling and champions Pender Harbour and Phil’s Dream, is the sire of Rarotonga (Lot 479), a filly out of a 3 time winning half-sister to five stakes horses, notably graded stakes winners Stonehenge, Pacific Charm and Gold Bowl winner Pacific Warrior.
