CHAMPIONS REPRESENTED IN HEMEL N AARDES NATIONAL DRAFT
3 April 2019

David Hepburn Brown’s Hemel ‘n Aarde Stud will be offering a quality draft of 13 yearlings at next month’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

The Hemel ‘n Aarde Stud includes lots by such popular and promising local stallions as Elusive Fort, Gimmethegreenlight, What A Winter and Potala Palace, and is also offering the sole yearling by Australian star and Vinery Stud based sire Press Statement.

The latter, whose first crop are now yearlings, was an exceptional racehorse who won G1 races at two (BRC JJ Atkins Stakes) and three (Caulfield Guineas), with Press Statement’s six wins including a total of four group victories. He is represented here by a half-sister (Lot 362) to G2 Stan Fox Stakes winner Tarka, with this filly’s dam being a full-sister to South African Horse Of The Year and multiple G1 winner Igugu.

Equus Champion and millionaire Hammie’s Hooker is represented in this draft by her first foal –a colt (Lot 376) by rising sire star Gimmethegreenlight. A wonderfully consistent racemare who earned over R1 000 000 in prize money, Hammie’s Hooker won 10 times, with her wins including five at graded level.

Multiple Equus Champion and boom stallion What A Winter has seven lots in the Hemel ‘n Aarde draft including a filly (Lot 388) out of G3 Cape Fillies Nursery winner Hot Affair, a half-sister (Lot 518) to talented millionaire Captain And Master, and a filly (Lot 537) whose dam is a half-sister to triple Horse Of The Year Pocket Power and G1 J&B Met winner River Jetez.

Yet another Equus Champion represented in this quality consignment is the increasingly successful Elusive Fort. That son of Elusive Fort has two colts on offer –a son (Lot 504) of the stakes placed Rock Of Gibraltar mare Roczinta, and a colt (Lot 519) out of a winning daughter of multiple graded stakes winner Secret To Success.

The regally bred Western Winter mare Old Heritage (a full-sister to Derby winner Winter Weather) has a colt (Lor 476) by the short-lived Where’s That Tiger on sale, while the stakes winning mare Competitor has a Potala Palace (Lot328) full-brother to the very smart Dalai’s Promise up for sale.
