CHAMPIONS REPRESENTED IN MAINE CHANCE DRAFT
9 April 2019

Maine Chance Farms, perennially among the leading breeders in South Africa, will be offering a stellar draft of quality yearlings at the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale this month.

The Robertson based stud will be offering 19 classy lots, by such top class stallions as Silvano, Querari, Elusive Fort and What A Winter, as well as by exciting younger sires as Flower Alley, Soft Falling Rain, Futura and Maine Chance’s very own resident stallion Vercingetorix, who has made a very impressive start to his stud career.

Multiple champion sire Silvano, whose progeny include not only Vercingetorix but brilliant recent G1 SA Classic hero Hawwaam, has a trio of lots in this draft –a half-brother (Lot 157) to 4 winners including G2 Selangor Cup winner Hard Day’s Night, a regally bred filly (Lot 178) out of the multiple G1 winning champion Princess Victoria, and Tempelhoff (Lot 563). The latter, a half-sister to 4 winners, is out of a daughter of outstanding sire/broodmare sire Pivotal and former South African champion Kundalini.

Silvano’s hugely exciting son, and Equus Champion, Vercingetorix, has four lots in the draft, with this quartet headed by Lyrical Dance (Lot 138) –a daughter of G1 Garden Province Stakes winner Lyrical Linda, whose previous foals include G1 Summer Cup victor Liege.

Maine Chance’s G1 winning and consistently successful sire Querari is another with multiple yearlings in this consignment. They include a filly (Lot 120) out of a winning Silvano mare from the family of Silvano’s own sire Lomitas, a filly (Lot 122) out of a winning Silvano half-sister to short-lived G1 winning champion Historic Lady, and a full-brother (Lot 217) to the very talented Spring Wonder –whose earnings stand at close on R500 000.

Gold Bracelet winner Gallica Rose is represented in this draft by the Soft Falling Rain colt Gentle Rain (Lot 86), while Giant’s Causeway’s stakes winning daughter Illumiere is the dam of Flower Alley colt Ideology (Lot 105).

Multiple Equus Champion What A Winter, whose progeny include the G1 winning filly Clouds Unfold, is represented by Beckoning Beauty (Lot 40) a daughter of the Dynasty sired stakes winner Bella Spumante, while Dynasty’s Horse Of The Year champion Futura is the sire of Calgary (Lot 318) a colt out of the speedy stakes performer Cat’s Paw.
