RIDGEMONT HIGHLANDS SUCCESS SET TO CONTINUE AT NATIONAL SALE

One of South Africa’s most successful stud farms, Ridgemont Highlands, has an exceptional draft on offer at this month’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
The farm’s 19 strong draft includes yearlings by the likes of Dynasty, Var, What A Winter, Duke Of Marmalade, Coup De Grace and Vercingetorix, and also includes progeny of such stakes winning mares as Cuvee Brut, Pirate Lady, and Alvilda.

Ridgemont Highlands’ late great sire Dynasty is represented by Livingstone (Lot 5), with this colt being produced by speedy stakes performer Voice Of Africa. 
Rising sire star Vercingetorix, who, like Dynasty, won the G1 Daily News 2000, is the sire of Sofia Erin (Lot 513) a filly out of the G3 placed Elusive Quality mare Salsabeel, while Anna Capri (Lot 17) is a regally bred daughter of Var and Zemfira –a half-sister to multiple champion National Colour, whose G1 winning progeny include the now Ridgemont based stallion Rafeef.

Exciting sire and multiple Equus Champion What A Winter is the sire of Winter Flight (Lot 82), a colt whose stakes placed Dynasty sired dam is a half-sister to the graded stakes winners Olympic Owen and Speedy Suzy, and this is the family of US champion sire Exclusive Native.

The beautifully bred Magical Eve, a stakes placed half-sister to Cartier Champion and multiple G1 winner Stradivarius, has a Jackson filly (Lot 139) on the sale, while high class producer Pledge, whose previous foals include G3 winner Promises To Keep and the G2 performer Speed Rocket, is another with a colt (lot 492) by the triple G1 winning Jackson (whose sire Dynasty sired Speed Rocket) on sale.

Cartier Champion Duke Of Marmalade, whose progeny include five European G1 winners, has four sons in this draft –a colt (Lot 155) whose stakes placed dam is a granddaughter of US G1 winner Far Out Beast, a colt (Lot 269) out of stakes winning Jallad mare Alvilda, a half-brother (Lot 329) to KZN Guineas Trial winner Stream Ahead, and a son (Lot 331) of talented G3 Prix du Cap winner Cuvee Brut.

Irish Champion Pathfork, whose progeny include such classy performers as Mighty High, Marchingontogether and Miss Honey, has a 3 lots on offer –including a filly (Lot 190) whose 3 time winning dam is a half-sister to G1 winners Front And Centre and Potala Palace (now up and coming sire star).

This draft also includes a half-brother (Lot 258), by Black Minnaloushe, to East Cape champion and multiple stakes winner Madame Speaker, and 3 very smart lots by exciting young Tapit stallion Coup De Grace. The latter’s threesome includes a colt (Lo 448) out of a 3 time winning own sister to R8 million plus earner Illuminator, and a colt (Lot 490) out of the stakes winner Pirate’s Lady –herself a daughter of G1 winner Cool Success.
