Long time National Sale stalwart, the Southford Stud, will once again be represented at the Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale this year.
The Karoo based farm brings just a single lot to the 2019 National Sale, but the colt (Lot 372) named Castle Corner looks a very attractive prospect.

This colt is a son of increasingly successful sire Ideal World whose ever-growing list of high class offspring include a pair of Met winners in Rainbow Bridge and Smart Call, as well as 2019 G1 SA Derby winner Samurai Warrior.

Castle Corner, bred on the same Ideal World/Western Winter cross as Oaks winner Zante, is a half-brother to three winners including the useful Norland.

His dam is a half-sister to G3 Jacaranda Handicap winner Peggy Jay, and granddam is none other than former Equus Champion Colonial Girl.

This is a very strong female line which has also produced the likes of champion Edict Of Nantes and G1 winners Lord Shirldor and English Garden, as well British group winner Son Pardo. Further back this is the family of high class sprinter Atraf, and German champion Luciano.
