WATERFORD STUD OFFER CLASSY QUARTET AT NATIONAL SALE
16 April 2019

Queenstown farm, the Waterford Stud, will be offering four very classy yearlings at next week’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

Waterford, a farm which has produced the likes of high class fillies Exquisite Touch and King’s Temptress, will be offering yearlings by such G1 producing sires as Trippi, Twice Over, Oratorio and Bold Silvano.

Champion sire Trippi, whose recent star performers include the likes of Tristful, Chimichuri Run and Cape Derby runner up Charles, is represented here by Perfect Display (Lot 78), a half-sister to 3 winners including the stakes placed Nima. Closely inbred to champion Forty Niner, Perfect Display is out of a full-sister to multiple G1 winning champion and sire Kildonan and is from the same family as champion filly Carry On Alice among others.

Royal Onyx (Lot 192) is a colt by the July winning champion Bold Silvano –sire of, among others, G1 winning sprinter Bold Respect. His colt on offer here is a three-parts brother to Bold Silvano’s Golden Slipper runner up Mazari and is a half-brother to durable G3 performer Royal Armour.

European star Oratorio has been enjoying big success of late, with the son of Danehill’s recent star performers including such graded stakes winners as Mardi Gras, Divine Odyssey and Van Halen, and Oratorio is represented here by Royal Exhibit (Lot 211). This colt is out of a winning half-sister to graded stakes winners Likeithot (November Handicap) and Ivor Thirst (Summerveld Stakes), and his second dam is G1 South African Fillies Sprint runner up Hot Weather.

Fellow European champion Twice Over, already the sire of such top class performers as Do It Again, Sand And Sea, Doublemint and Run Red, is the sire of Ballroom Bliss (Lot 282). This filly is out of a winning daughter of champion sire Jet Master and G1 winner Saintly Lady, and numbers top class G1 filly Safe Harbour (who earned over R2 million in stakes) as a close relative.
