David Southey’s Southford Stud will once again be offering a quality draft at this year’s KZN Yearling Sale.
Southford’s five strong draft include relatives of such high-class performers as Royal Deed, Kris, Proud Pilgrim, Diesis, The Barbican, Forest Path and former July winner Spanish Galliard at the 2019 KZN Sale.
Galileo son Global View has one member of his first crop in the draft –and this is the filly Young Ideas (Lot 21). The latter is a half-sister to 3 winners, most notably Kenyan classic winner Happy Times, and her dam is a daughter of the stakes placed First Love. Further back, this is the famous Sister Sublime family, responsible for such champions as Mazarin, National Emblem, and Roland’s Song.

Champion and former Leading First Crop Sire Lateral has three in this draft. Ballygood (Lot 37) is a half-sister to three multiple winners, and this filly’s winning Count Dubois dam is a daughter of stakes winner Wild Deb –from the family of Count Dubois, Kris, Diesis and Indian Haven –to name a few.
Top Ten (Lot 189) is a Lateral half-sister to two useful winners from the family of champion The Barbican, while Lateral colt My Oh My (Lot 199) is out of a half-sister to multiple G1 winner Forest Path, with his second dam being a winning half-sister to 2 stakes winners, notably July winning champion Spanish Galliard.

Pineview (Lot 118) is a colt by July Cup runner up Main Aim, and this colt is a half-brother to four winners notably the smart stakes performer Cedar (who won eight), and the dam of very classy Southford Stud bred Captain’s Girl. The latter won six and has already earned in excess of R690 000 in prize money.

The 2019 KZN Yearling Sale  will be held at the Sibaya Casino on July 4th and 5th and the catalogue can now be viewed online at
