Maine Chance Farms, perennially among the leading breeders in South Africa, willl be offering a seven strong draft at this year’s KZN Yearling Sale, which is set to take place at the Sibaya Casino next month.
Remarkably, all seven of Maine Chance’s yearlings are sired by G1 winners, with their draft including yearlings by such high class stallions as Elusive Fort, Querari, Soft Falling Rain and their own hugely exciting young sire Vercingetorix.

Harmonius (Lot 115) is a Vercingetorix filly out of a Var own sister to G2 Senor Santa Stakes winner Happy Forever and half-sister to exported G1 winner Happy Valentine (who, like Vercingetorix, was sired by Silvano). This is also the family of the Silvano sired Oaks winner Happy Spirit and the remarkable globetrotter and G1 sire Starcraft.

Leading first crop sire Vercingetorix is also represented in this draft by Macara (Lot 176). The latter is a filly out of a winning daughter of outstanding sire Dubawi and her third dam is the Oaks Trial winner Swell Time Girl.

Two other Equus Champions represented in the Maine Chance draft are Elusive Fort and Soft Falling Rain.
The former, a proven G1 sire, is the sire of Let There Be Light (Lot 159) a filly from the family of Silvano’s Horse Of The Year and champion sire Lomitas, while deceased SA Nursery winner Soft Falling Rain is responsible for Marrakech (Lot 179) a half-brother to three winners including the promising two-year-old Mai Tai.

Maine Chance Farm’s G1 winning and proven G1 sire Querari has two in the draft –a filly (Lot 209) from the family of such stand out racemares as Imperious Sue, Imperious Star and Real Princess, and a colt (Lot 250) from the family of US G1 winner Devil’s Orchid.

Prospero (Lot 203) is a colt by triple G1 winner Jackson, and this colt is a half-brother to six winners (notably smart G3 performer Paolo) and the dam of top-flight sprinter Pinnacle Peak.
