Eugene Freeman’s Boland Stud will, once again, be offering a high-class draft at this year’s KZN Yearling Sale.
Boland Stud will be offering a large draft of 21 yearlings (three as agent for the Ambiance Stud, four on behalf of the Black Swan Stud, and seven others as agent), with the draft including yearlings by such exciting and popular sires as Coup De Grace, Elusive Fort, Futura, Go Deputy, Ideal World, Louis The King, Master Of My Fate, Oratorio, Querari and Wylie Hall.

Horse Of The Year Futura is represented by a filly (Lot 3) whose 3 time winning dam is a half-sister 2 black type performers notably G2 Gold Circle Derby winner Silvano’s Jet, while very exciting Redoute’s Choice horse Wylie Hall is the sire of a classy filly (Lot 158) whose dam is a dual winning half-sister to SA Oaks heroine Secret Potion.
Prominent young sire Master Of My Fate, whose early crops have yielded such high class performers as Twist Of Fate, Silverstone Air and Basadi Faith, has four lots in the Boland draft. They include a colt (Lot 29) out of a five time winning Var half-sister to G3 performer Richmond Park, a filly (Lot 141) whose dam is a ¾ sister to Horse Of The Year Yard-Arm, and a colt (Lot 216) very closely related to G1 Champions Cup winner Master Plan.

Increasingly successful sire Querari is another stallion well represented –the G1 winning son of Oasis Dream is the sire of four yearlings in this draft. Querari’s quartet include a colt (Lot 5) whose G2 placed dam is a three-parts sister to this season’s multiple graded stakes winner Sunshine Silk, a filly (Lot 116) out of a winning Royal Academy half-sister to the stakes winning Feel My Love, and a filly (Lot 169) out of a five time winning daughter of Silvano.
Former KZN Sale graduate, and Triple Crown winner, Louis The King is represented in this draft by a colt (Lot 64) whose dual winning granddam is very closely related to the G1 winners Nania, Red Ray and Set Afire, while proven G1 sire Judpot is responsible for a filly (Lot 208) who is a three-parts sister to the Judpot sired G1 Golden Horseshoe winner Forest Indigo and this season’s smart 3yo Drop Kick.
Multiple graded stakes winner Coup De Grace has two members of his first crop on offer –notably a half-brother (Lot 80) to talented G3 performer Desolate Road, and a filly (Lot 143) out of G3 Starling Stakes/G3 Fillies Mile winner Katy’s Lane.

Equus Champion and proven G1 sire Elusive Fort is another doubly represented –he is the sire of a filly (Lot 6) out of a winning ½ sister to G1 Gilbey’s Stakes winner Young Harvest, and by a filly (Lot 147) from the family of standout fillies Promisefrommyheart, Covenant, Lady Brompton and Ghaalla.

Other intriguing lots in the Boland draft include the Ideal World half-brother (Lot 33) to the speedy stakes performer Maties Wildekat, the Oratorio colt (Lot 196) from the family of champion Cherry On The Top and her high-class daughter Blossom, and the Philanthropist half-brother (Lot 232) to KZN Yearling Sale Million winner Lunar Rush.
