MONKS HOOD SIBLING A STANDOUT IN BENMARNE DRAFT
12 July 2019

The Botha family’s Benmarne Stud will be offering eight lots at next month’s National 2YO Sale in Germiston.
One of the potential standout lots in this classy draft is the half-brother (Lot 45) to exported Benmarne bred Gauteng Guineas/Dingaans winner Monks Hood, who is now racing in Hong Kong under the name of Graceandmercy.

The latter’s half-brother on offer goes by the name of Irontail, and he shares his G1 winning sire Pathfork with the likes of Mighty High, Marchingonntogether, Red Chesnut Road, My Friend Lee and Miss Honey.

Former Irish Champion Pathfork is also the sire of Moon Game (Lot 250) –a colt whose 3 time winning dam is a half-sister to the dam of talented galloper Knuckleball, and further back this is the family of G1 winners Surveyor and top class sire/broodmare sire Lord At War.

Nourbese (Lot 138) is a colt from the first crop of Horse Of The Year Futura, and this colt’s granddam is a half-sister to the G1 winners Follow The Falcon and Savannah Queen, while the Capetown Noir colt Cape Foulwind (Lot 178) is out of a 3 time winning daughter of Jet Master from the family of G1 winner Fanciful.

Dynasty’s G1 winning sons Act Of War and Jackson are also both represented in this draft, with Act Of War’s son American Rocket (Lot 266) out of a stakes placed winner of four, and Jackson colt Luke Moonwalker (Lot 4) hailing from the family of champions Trademark, Let’s Rock ‘N Roll and In The Fast Lane to name but a few.

Other intriguing lots in Benmarne’s draft include the Global View colt (Lot 387) from the family of SA Nursery winner Vacherin, and the Bold Silvano colt (Lot 305) who is a three-parts sibling to R830 000 plus earner S’il Vous Plait.
