Formerly operating under the name of the Gary Player Stud Farm, the Big Sky Ranch will be offering a quality draft of 11 two-year-olds at the 2019 National 2YO Sale in August.
Their draft includes lots by such popular and promising sires as Flower Alley, Futura, Gimmethegreenlight, Kingsbarns, Master Of My Fate, Oratorio, Querari and Trippi –and is, as thus, a string to pay close attention to!
Red hot sire Gimmethegreenlight, whose progeny include high-class Gary Player Stud Farm bred filly Green Plains, has two lots in this draft. The first is a filly (Lot 74) who hails from the same family as Melbourne Cup winning filly Ethereal, while the second is a colt (Lot 336), who is bred on the same cross as Green Plains and whose granddam is a stakes winning half-sister to Champion Sprinter Basic Instinct.

Another top class young sire represented in this draft is Master Of My Fate, who stands alongside Gimmethegreenlight at Varsfontein Stud. The son of Jet Master is the sire of a filly (Lot 103) whose winning dam is a half-sister to the Jet Master sired G3 Cape Classic winner Chave De Oura.

Green Plains herself, whose wins include triumphs in both the G2 SA Fillies Nursery and G2 Camellia Stakes, has a Flower Alley half-brother on the sale in the form of Lot 328, while champion sire Trippi is represented here by a colt (Lot 323) out of the Jet Master sired dual stakes winner Rush For John.

Deceased G1 winner Kingsbarns, whose small first crop made a big impression, is represented by a colt (Lot 82) whose dam is a daughter of flying filly Lupine Lady, while Irish champion, and G1 sire, Pathfork is the sire of a colt (Lot 84) whose winning Fort Wood sired dam is very closely related to Horse Of The Year and successful sire Horse Chestnut.
Global View is represented by a filly (Lot 187) whose dam is a four time winning ¾ sister to R3 000 000 plus earner No Worries, while Horse Of The Year Futura is the sire of a colt (Lot 208) whose dam is a winning half-sister to Derby winner Superwood (with the latter sired by Futura’s grandsire Fort Wood).

Top class sire Querari, whose daughter Cockney Pride won the recent G2 Zulu Kingdom Explorer Golden Slipper, is the sire of a filly (Lot 247) out of a dual winning half-sister to smart filly Love Vivien, while champion and proven G1 sire Oratorio is represented by a half-sister (Lot 334) to five winners notably G3 winner and millionaire Masai Warrior.
