TOP FAMILIES REPRESENTED IN MAURITZFONTEINS 2YO SALE DRAFT
30 July 2019

Leading nursery, Mauritzfontein, will be offering a large draft of 21 lots (seven as Agent) at August’s Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale.
Mauritzfontein’s quality consignment includes two-year-olds by such notable stallions as Ideal World, Querari, Flower Alley, Soft Falling Rain, and Global View –to name but a few!

Resident sire Ideal World, whose progeny include the G1 winners Rainbow Bridge, Smart Call and Samurai Warrior, has seven two-year-olds in this draft. Among them are a filly (Lot 279) out of a Western Winter half-sister to Gold Cup runner up Noblewood, a daughter (Lot 332) of multiple stakes winner Sea Cat, a colt (Lot 181) out of a half-sister to Derby winner Silvano’s Jet, and a filly (Lot 222) who is bred on very similar lines to Ideal World’s G3 winner Zen Arcade.
Short-lived champion Soft Falling Rain, whose first runners made a big impression in 2018-2019, has two in this draft. His son Double Rainbow (Lot 71) is from the family of G1 winners Nania, Red Ray, Rudra and Set Afire, while Thunder Road (Lot 108) is a colt whose dam is a Fort Wood half-sister to exported Equus Champion Hermoso Mundo.

Flower Alley, a G1 winner and G1 sire, is represented here by Sacred Lotus (Lot 11) –half-sister to smart performer Goliath Heron, and by Jaimala (Lot 96). The latter is a colt with a real stallion’s pedigree –as he hails from the family of breed shaping sires Danehill, Machiavellian and Northern Dancer.

Herrin (Lot 114) is a filly by top class sire Querari out of a G3 placed half-sister to Cape Guineas winner Flight Alert, while Bromance (Lot 157) is a colt by Irish champion Pathfork, and whose granddam is a full-sister to multiple champion sire Western Winter.
Other appealing lots in Mauritzfontein’s draft include the Global View  filly (Lot 383) whose dam is a half-sister to champion Monyela, the Bold Silvano (Lot 42) three-parts brother to Gold Braclet winner Gallica Rose, and the Byword filly (Lot 286) out of a G3 placed daughter of Horse Chestnut. The latter filly is bred on the same cross as Byword’s G1 winning daughter Camphoratus!
