Duncan Barry’s Riverton Stud has long been regarded as one of the most consistent producers of high-class racehorses in South Africa.
Riverton’s recent graduates include such high-class performers as Cirillo, Cousin Liz,  and  dual graded stakes winner Gimme One Night, with the farm’s previous star graduates including champion sprinter, and exciting young sire, Captain Of All, and G1 Cape Guineas winner Domino Man.

Riverton will be offering a single lot at the 2019 Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale, but this colt looks a truly exciting prospect.

As yet unnamed, the colt (Lot 173) in question is from the first crop of lightning fast multiple graded stakes winner Coup De Grace –the only son of multiple champion US sire Tapit at stud in South Africa.

This colt, a half-brother to 3 winners from as many runners, is out of a winning daughter of champion and top-class sire Holy Roman Emperor. The latter is also a highly successful broodmare sire, with Holy Roman Emperor mares having already produced such G1 winners as Newspaperofrecord, Johannes Vermeer and Verbal Dexterity.

This Coup De Grace colt is out of a half-sister to high-class stakes winner, and G1 Beverly D Stakes runner up, Gifted Girl, and to the G3 placed dam of champion sprinter Millowitsch.

This regally bred colt’s granddam is a Selkirk half-sister to G1 Irish Oaks winner Margarula (dam of Australian G1  winner Grand Marshal), and further back this is the female line of hugely influential US champion sire Elusive Quality.
