SANDOWN STUD WELL REPRESENTED AT 2YO SALE

James Armitage’s Sandown Stud enjoyed a memorable season in 2018-2019, with the farms’ graduates including the likes of G1 G-bets Gauteng Summer Cup winner Tilbury Fort and triple stakes winner Magnificent Seven and the farm will be offering a 14 strong draft at the 2019 Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale, with Sandown’s string promising to offer something for every buyer.

This consignment includes two-year-olds by a host of sires, both proven and unproven, with Sandown’s draft headed by lots by the likes of Captain Of All, Coup De Grace, Duke Of Marmalade, Elusive Fort, Futura, Kingsbarns and Twice Over –to name but a few!
Proven G1 sire Black Minnaloushe is represented here by two fillies –his daughter (Lot 1) out of Vague is a half-sister to 3 winners and is from the family of Equus Champion Dancewiththedevil and dual G1 Vodacom Durban July hero Do It Again, while  his filly (Lot 240) out of Mammy Blue is out of a full-sister to Zimbabwe Guineas winner Syracuse.
Equus Champion and proven G1 sire Elusive Fort has two lots in this draft -a filly (Lot 25) bred on the same cross as G1 winner Lauderdale, and a filly (Lot 128) whose stakes placed dam hails from the family of G1 winners Al Hareb, Myboycharlie and Snowland.

Short-lived G1 winner Kingsbarns, whose small first SA crop yielded G1 Thekwini Stakes winner Gabor, is the sire of a colt (Lot 281) whose dam is a ½ sister to 3 stakes winners including July winner Dunford, while Horse Of The Year, and four time G1 winner, Futura, is the sire of a colt (Lot 171) whose dam is a half-sister to high-class sprinter Captain Harry.
Cartier Champion, and proven sire, Duke Of Marmalade is the sire of a regally bred colt (Lot 370) whose granddam is a full-sister to Australian Horse Of The Year Typhoon Tracy, while Sandown’s successful resident stallion Ashaawes has a colt (Lot 231) whose dam is a stakes placed daughter of short-lived, but top-class Australian sire Sebring.
European champion Twice Over, whose progeny include champion and dual July winner Do It Again, has a filly (Lot 43) from the same female line as US champion sire Elusive Quality, while exciting young Tapit sire Coup De Grace is the sire of a filly (Lot 131) whose granddam is a full-sister to G3 winner Cherry On The Cake (dam of recent debut winner Summer Pudding) and half-sister to champion Cherry On The Top (dam of G1 filly Blossom).

Other intriguing lots in Sandown’s draft include the Wylie Hall half-sister (Lot 106) to recent G3 Final Fling Stakes third Glamorous Life, the Jackson half-brother (Lot 315) to Fillies Mile runner up Aurelia Cotta, and the Captain Of All filly (Lot 322) whose dam is an own-sister to G3 Lebelo Sprint winner Gold Site.
