Varsfontein Stud, perennially among the leading breeders in South Africa, will be offering a very classy draft at the upcoming Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale.
Not only does Varsfontein’s consignment include two-year-olds sired by such exciting and popular sires as Dynasty, Gimmethegreenlight and Master Of My Fate, but this draft includes prospects from some ofthe best families in the South African stud book.

Deceased outstanding sire Dynasty has a single lot in Varsfontein’s draft –a colt by the name of Mingshi (Lot 244). Bred on the same cross as Equus Champion and G1 winner Lady In Black, Mingshi is out of a stakes winning daughter of newly crowned Champion Broodmare Sire Jet Master.

Varsfontein’s own increasingly successful sire Gimmethegreenlight, whose progeny include impressive recent G1 Premiers Champion Stakes winner Got The Greenlight, has six lots in this draft. Mifid Two (Lot 105) is a filly out of G3 Diana Stakes winner Double Whammy from the family of high-class sprinters Sunera and Something Else, while Spotlight (Lot  182) is a half-brother to the very talented Pietro Mascagni.

Gimmethegreenlight filly Miss Paloma (Lot 251) is out of an Invincible Spirit half-sister to two stakes winners, while Go-Ahead (Lot 256) is a half or full brother to four winners including Breeders Guineas winner Comebackanddance.

Pinch Me (Lot 294) and the filly (Lot 261) out of Money Spider are very closely related, with Pinch Me’s dam being an own sister to dual G1 winner Forest Path and to Money Spider (also dam of the stakes winning Rain Spider).

Varsfontein is also home to another very exciting sire in the form of Master Of My Fate, and that son of Jet Master has seven lots in this draft. They include a three-parts brother (Lot 37) to G1 Empress Club Stakes winner Little Miss Magic (dam of millionaire Miss Katalin), a half-sister (Lot 38) to two black type performers including Swallow Stakes winner All At Once, a colt (Lot 230) bred on very similar lines to G2 winner Jet Belle, a half-sister (Lot 262) to speedy filly Garibondy, and a half-sister (Lot 301) to 3 stakes winners including the graded stakes winning fillies Badger’s Cove and Princess Peach.

Other intriguing lots in Varsfontein’s draft include a Judpot full-brother (Lot 129) to G3 Diana Stakes winner Double Whammy and the stakes placed Skysign, a Judpot colt (Lot 139) out of G3 Flamboyant Stakes runner up Goldie Coast,  and the Judpot half-sister (Lot 204) to Sweet Chestnut Stakes winner Secret Pleasure and to Kenyan superstar Silverstone Air.
