Wilgerbosdrift, who, along with Mauritzfontein, ended 2018-2019 as the Leading Breeders in South Africa, will be offering an excellent draft at this year’s Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale.

The draft includes some exceptionally well bred two-year-olds, who hail from some of the best families in the stud book.
The outstanding, Wilgerosdrift bred sire Dynasty, is represented in this draft by Victor Emmanuel (Lot 385). The latter is a three-parts brother to G3 Fillies Mile winner Negroamaro, and is bred on the same Dynasty/Al Mufti cross as graded stakes winners Barrack Street and De Kock.

Wilgerbosdrift’s short-lived Equus Champion Soft Falling Rain made a superb start with his first runners last season including G2 Gagasi FM Debutante winner Montreal Mist, and the former globetrotting star is responsible for five lots in Wilgerbosdrift’s 2YO Sale draft. Herecomestherain (Lot 46) is a colt out of G3 Acacia Handicap winner Amur Affair, and he hails from the same family as recent graded stakes winners Cousin Liz and Gimme One Night. Rain Must Fall (Lot 142) is a colt whose dam is an Invincible Spirit half-sister to Irish G3 winner Rabatash, while H Two O (Lot 214) is a colt from the wonderful Party Time family.

An own brother to the winning Horatius and half-brother to the very smart Horace, Gang Leader (Lot 210) is a Soft Falling Rain colt out of G1 winner and Equus Champion Laverna, while the sire is also responsible for Sergei (Lot 368) a colt whose dam is a full-sister to champion and G1 producer Mother Russia.
Wilgerbosdrift’s resident G1 Travers Stakes winner Flower Alley, whose early winners last season included the unbeaten Alibi Guy and G1 contender Keep Smiling, is the sire of 12 lots in the Wilgerbosdrift draft.

His son Oak King (Lot 116) is a regally bred half-brother to graded stakes winners Platinum Class and Our Emperor,  while Flower Alley colt Foreign Field (Lot 119) is out of a winning Fort Wood half-sister to dual Guineas winner Noordhoek Flyer.

Also responsible for Kentucky Derby winning champion I’ll Have Another, Flower Alley’s draft also includes Count Alley (Lot 5) a colt out of a Var half-sister to the stakes placed Baroness Mary, Euro Cent (Lot 80), a colt whose dam is by outstanding sire Shamardal,  and Topiary (Lot 259) is a colt out of a dual winning Encosta De Lago mare whose own sister is dam of G2 winner Imelda Mary.

Petunia (Lot 289) is a Flower Alley filly whose dam is a winning Hussonet half-sister to G2 Camellia Stakes winer Honorine, while Spice Market  (Lot 303) is a Flower Alley filly whose dam is a winning half-sister to SA Oaks winner Pine Princess.

Yet another well bred two-year-old in this draft is Pat Pong (Lot 60) a daughter of the very successful Ideal World and the stakes placed Bang Sue (a daughter of Tiger Ridge and Equus Champion Rat Burana).
