12 August 2019

Hendrik Winterbach’s Winterbach Stud will be offering three very smart two-year-olds at August’s Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale.
Duke Of Fire (Lot 28) is a colt by Cartier Champion, and five time G1 winner Duke Of Marmalade, whose first South African crop has already yielded no fewer than six stakes winners. Duke Of Fire himself is a half-brother to a winner, and his dam is a dual winning half-sister to a very speedy stakes winner who was sired by Duke Of Marmalade’s close relative Al Mufti.

Further back, this is the family of Equus Champions Colonial Girl and Edict Of Nantes and fellow G1 winner Lord Shirldor.

Zernez (Lot 68) is a filly by G1 Travers Stakes winner Flower Alley –whose daughters include such notable graded stakes winners as Lilacs And Lace, Bouquet Booth, and My Wandy’s Girl.
This filly, inbred to legendary sire Sadler’s Wells like the mighty Enable, is out of a dual winning Fort Wood own sister to the Oaks third Santiago –whose stakes placed daughter San Trip produced the sales topper at the 2019 KZN Yearling Sale!
Champion, and triple G1 winner, Oratorio is a proven sire whose progeny have earned in excess of $64 million the world over. The son of Danehill is represented in this draft by his daughter Pip To The Post (Lot 388), who is out of a winning three-parts sister to stakes winner Franklin and to the stakes placed dam of globetrotting G3 winner Nocturnal Affair.
Pip To The Post, whose dam’s grandsire Alydar hails from the same family as Oratorio, also hails from the family of graded stakes winners Rocket Countdown and Down To Zero, and further back, this is the family of German Oaks winner Amarette.
The 2019 National 2YO Sale is set to take place at the TBA complex in Germiston on August 15th and 16th, with trading each day due to get underway at 11:00 AM sharp.
