One of South Africa’s leading stud-farms, the Varsfontein Stud, will be offering an exceptional draft at the 2020 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

Varsfontein’s imposing draft (six lots of which are offered as agent) include yearlings by such top sires as Gimmethegreenlight, Master Of My Fate, Silvano, Vercingetorix and What A Winter, as well as lots by such exciting and promising stallions as Pomodoro and William Longsword.

This imposing draft also includes no fewer than six half or full siblings to graded stakes winners, and a further seven yearlings out of stakes winning racemares.

The farm’s red hot resident stallion Gimmethegreenlight, whose sons Got The Greenlight, Green Laser and Youcanthurrylove ran 1-2-3 in the recent G1 SA Classic, has some exceptional prospects in this draft, including a half-brother (Lot 446) to G1 Tsogo Sun Gold Medallion winner Eden Roc, a full-brother (Lot 104) to G3 Sea Cottage Stakes hero Green Laser, a filly (Lot 183) whose dam is a half-sister to G1 Matriarch Stakes winner Gypsy’s Warning, and a colt (Lot 334) out of G2 Gerald Rosenberg Stakes winner Polyphonic.

Makiwara, a Smart Strike half-sister to the now Maine Chance Farms based dual G1 winner Erupt, has a Gimmethegreenlight colt (Lot 267) in this draft, with this colt hailing from the same family as such top class stallions as Encosta De Lago, Flying Spur and Holy Roman Emperor.

My Guiding Star, whose progeny include G3 Flamboyant Stakes winner Hashtagyolo, has a Gimmethegreenlight colt (Lot 300) on offer, while My Guiding Star’s close relative Justthewayyouare, the stakes winning dam of dual G3 winner Captain Splendid, is represented here by the Gimmethegreenlight colt On My Way (Lot 224).

Multiple champion sire Silvano (whose yearlings made up to R9 000 000 in 2019) has a regally bred colt in this draft in the form of Tozzetti (Lot 147). A half-brother to G3 Fillies Mile winner, and R5 000 000 yearling buy, Ghaalla, Tozzetti is a full-brother to promising two-year-old Due Diligence and his dam Fidelity is a half-sister to both dual G2 winner, and successful sire, Master Of My Fate and the aforementioned Justthewayyouare.

Resident sire Master Of My Fate, himself a R3 000 000 buy from the 2011 National Sale, also has some exciting prospects on offer. They include a colt (Lot 292) out of smart racemare Moggytwoshoes, a half-sister (Lot 380) to this season’s G1 Sun Met contender Bunker Hunt, a half-brother (Lot 469) to G3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery winner Hot Affair, and a half-brother (Lot 129) to the smart performers Jack Hobbs and Manx Missile.

Other attractive lots in Varsfontein’s National Sale draft include the Vercingetorix colt (Lot 11) out of a half-sister to Swallow Stakes winner All At Once, the What A Winter filly (Lot 45) bred on similar lines to the likes of Winter Weather, Light The Lights and Imperial Ice, the William Longsword filly (Lot 272) whose dam is a full-sister to G2 winner Paterfamilias , and the Flower Alley filly (Lot 462) out of Laisserfaire Stakes winner Victorian Secret.
