TOP SIRES DOMINATE THE ROCKS NATIONAL DRAFT
16 March 2020

Spencer Cook’s The Rock will be offering six well bred yearlings at the upcoming Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

The Rock’s eye catching draft is made up of yearlings sired by such popular and proven stallions as Duke Of Marmalade, Kingsbarns, Querari, Vercingetorix and What A Winter.
Boom sire Vercingetorix, whose impressive first crop includes brilliant G2 Gauteng Guineas winner Ikigai, is represented here by Coffee Break (Lot 40), a colt out of Fort Wood’s G2 SA Oaks placed daughter Bastille Belle, a half-sister to Duchess Of York Cup winner Cormorant Pass among others.

Querari, last season’s Leading Sire of 2Yos, has two in this draft –Eternal Life (Lot 135) is a filly out of a three-parts sister to Elusive Fort, while Transact (Lot 243) is a colt whose four time winning dam hails from the immediate family of international G1 winning sisters Irridescence and Perfect Promise.

Champion sprinter What A Winter, whose progeny include recent G1 winners Clouds Unfold and Russet Air, is the sire of The Heat Is On (Lot 153), and this filly is out of a half-sister to G1 SA Derby winner Seal and fellow stakes winners Madonna and Fifty Cents.
The ill-fated Kingsbarns, whose small first crop yielded the graded stakes winners Gabor and King Of Gems, is also represented in The Rock’s draft. His son Infinite Peace (Lot 164), like Gabor and King Of Gems, is out of a daughter of champion sire Trippi, with Infinite Peace hailing from the same family as G1 winners Al Nitak, Shoe Express, The Sheik and Top Seller –to name a few!
South Sandwich (Lot 238) is a colt by Cartier champion and proven G1 sire Duke Of Marmalade, and this well related colt is a half-brother to four winners including East Cape Guineas victor The Highway Man and the very smart feature race contender Hard To Play.

Notable gallopers bred by this farm include G3 Langerman winner Snow Report, Highlands Stud Sweet Chestnut Stakes winner Too Phat To Fly, and Model Man Mile winner Fools Gold.
