BIRCH BROS WELL REPRESENTED AT NATIONAL SALE


The Birch Bros, breeders of some of the greatest racehorses ever seen on the South African turf, will once again be well represented at this years Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.


Their draft is made up of yearlings sired by all of Coup De Grace, Global View, Ideal World, Judpot, Querari, Rafeef, Red Ray, and the ever popular What A Winter with this draft including yearlings from some of the best families in the South African studbook.


Querari, South Africas Leading Sire of 2YOs for the 2018-2019 season, is the sire of Rare Vintage (Lot 465), a colt out of a winning three-parts sister to champion Special Parade, and this colt is bred on the same cross as the Querari sired millionaire Kangaroo Jack.


The red hot What A Winter, sire of this seasons G1 winners Clouds Unfold and Russet Air, has a single lot in this draft -What A Destiny (Lot 327) is a colt out of a full-sister to Met winning champion Smart Call, with this colts granddam being a half-sister to July winning champion Greys Inn.


Redoutes Choices G1 Computaform Sprint winning son Rafeef has two lots on offer -Reef Bound (Lot 55) is a colt out of a full-sister to G3 Cape Classic winner Eighth Wonder, while Ridge To Reef (Lot 181) is a beautifully bred colt whose dam is a full-sister to G1 Allan Robertson Championship/G2 KRA Fillies Guineas winner On Her Toes, and his third dam is former Broodmare Of The Year Pretty Falcon. 


Universal Quest (Lot 119) is a colt by Galileos hugely promising son Global View, and this half-brother to talented G1 contender Second Request is out of the three time winning, and stakes placed, mare Duncton Quest.


Consistently successful sire Ideal World, whose progeny include such G1 winners as Smart Call, Rainbow Bridge and Samurai Warrior, is the sire of Romanee Conti (Lot 305) -a full-brother to G3 Strelitzia Stakes winner Inverroche, while Prominence (Lot 390) is a full-brother to yet another graded stakes winner in the form of G2 Post Merchants hero Sniper Shot.

 

Calibre Crest (Lot 346) is a Twice Over colt out of a three time winning Elusive Quality half-sister to two stakes winners, including G1 sire Keep The Faith, while Integrate (Lot 427) is a Coup De Grace half-brother to G3 Racing Association Handicap heroine Fortissima.
