The Ceres based Daytona Stud have bred some outstanding thoroughbreds over the years, with Daytonas notable graduates headed by triple Equus Champion, and now leading sire, What A Winter, G1 Cape Fillies Guineas heroine Sports Chestnut, and the remarkable, globetrotting sprinter Tiza.


More recently, Daytonas alumni include such talented graded stakes winners as Twilight Moon and Miyabi Gold, with the latter having captured the 2018 G2 Gold Bracelet and amassed nearly R1 000 000 in prize money.


Daytona will be offering a small, but quality, draft at this years Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale, with the farm offering two-year-olds sired by all of Flower Alley, Soft Falling Rain, Twice Over and Wylie Hall.


The latter, a multiple G1 winning son of legendary Australian sire Redoutes Choice and sire of the smart, Daytona Stud bred galloper Twilight Moon, is the sire of The Brief (Lot 26). This colt is a half-brother to five winners, with The Briefs siblings including a trio of stakes placed runners in the form of Rabattache, Kilrain and Splendid Sun respectively.


Equus Champion Soft Falling Rain, whose progeny include the Eastern Cape champion World Radar as well as G1 Golden Horse Medallion runner up Pray For Rain, is represented here by Confetti Shower (Lot 52) -a half-sister to the stakes placed Watsonia, and this fillys dam is a Fort Wood half-sister to G3 Kings Cup winner Pirates Gold.


Tahiti Dreamer (Lot 237) is a filly by Flower Alley, whose other daughters include G1 Ashland Stakes winner Lilacs And Lace as well as promising three-year-old Princess Calla. This filly, a half-sister to 3 winners, is out of a full-sister to the G3 Racing Association Handicap winning dam of Kenilworth Cup winner Pacific Chestnut, and her granddam is a half-sister to G1 Flight Stakes winner Dashing Eagle.


European champion Twice Over, sire of, among others, dual G1 Vodacom Durban July winner Do It Again, has two lots in Daytonas draft. One More Time (Lot 256) is a colt whose granddam is a G2 winning half-sister to G1 winning champion Consensual (herself the dam of exported champion Just Sensual), while Knock Twice (Lot 318) is a colt out of a stakes placed half-sister to G3 performer Rabattache and the stakes placed Kilrain.


The Daytona bred champion What A Winter, one of South Africas hottest sires, is also represented here. His daughter Ice Castle (Lot 306), whose dam ran third in both the G1 Golden Slipper and G1 Thekwini Stakes, is a half-sister to 4 winners including the smart, stakes placed filly Studio Blues.
