ASCOT STUD OFFERS QUALITY DRAFT AT KZN SALE

Ascot Stud, long regarded as one of South Africa’s premier thoroughbred nurseries, will be bringing a very classy draft to this year’s KZN Yearling Sale. Ascot’s string is comprised of yearlings sired by resident sires Global View and Heavenly Blue, champion sire Gimmethegreenlight and the very exciting stallion The United States.

Global View, whose progeny include this season’s exciting three-year-old and G1 Daily News 2000 runner-up Dave The King as well as Castle Tankard victor Ideal View, has four yearlings on offer. Ascot’s Ashley Parker is particularly keen on the Global View colt Night Rocker (Lot 16), and says, “He is a strong, powerful Global View colt bred on the famous Galileo/Danehill cross and his half-sisters Rockie Reef and Three Rocks have both won their last starts. This colt is from a very famous Lanwades Stud family.”

Ashley also likes Global View filly Queen Of Jazz (Lot 27), saying, “She is a striking, early maturing Global View filly with an enormous hindquarter. She is bred to fly being the half-sister to this season’s Listed Storm Bird Stakes runner-up Fire ‘N Flames. This is the same family as multiple champion Arabian Lass.”

Outstanding sire Gimmethegreenlight has a cracking colt in this draft in the form of Greenlight Express (Lot 70), “A balanced, quality Gimmethegreenlight half brother to Listed Champion Juvenile Cup winner Foreign Source from the family of champions Echelon, Integral and Entrepreneur.”

Another exciting sire represented in Ascot’s KZN Sale string is The United States, whose three-year-olds this season include the likes of Billy Bowlegs, Khaya’s Hope and Without Question. Ascot will be offering a colt by The United States in the form of Naval Officer (Lot 151). Ashley holds this colt in high regard, and describes him as “A scopey United States colt who stands over ground with an effortless stride, and he is from the family of Archipenko and champions Sadlers Wells and Nureyev.”

This draft can be viewed from Block D at the Suncoast Casino in Durban.
